well i certainly wouldn't advocate not being aware of cars moving around me, i guess TPTB are trying to break a decades old view that people are subordinate to cars. Really, if it is a shared space and cars have to be careful to not hit pedestrians, why shouldn't they just walk about as directed?

Interesting opposition there, the copper said they used to visit for quite a few accidents, so if the pedestrians are moving easier/quicker and there are less accidents, surely that's 'better' They have done this in my (newly) local town, i've yet to encounter it is a have no need to go into town but i hear uncertainty and bad comments from family but i think they are looking at it purely from a drivers point of view. I think we all forget that we are all pedestrians.

you could also start phasing it in for new staff, so all new staff get a limit

that looks pretty cool, i like the idea and if i was still using a computer a desk during my personal time i might consider it. but as a tablet/laptop and media center user i'm not sure i'd get any use out of it.

cool white LEDs can be quite stark, i've been doing some testing with home built lighting recently. I'm still undecided and may go with warm white in the kitchen, as long as there is enough light it might be more pleasant than less cool white

yeah the lock and perhaps the blade lenth (depends on model i guess) is the issue. I carry a non locking slip knife all the time

Yeah i would think the locking blade is the thing to worry about in public. Shame they're not non-lockers!

Are the blades locking on most of these things? That's the only problem i can see

i feel a sudden need for a multitool thanks to this thread! I already carry a slipjoint knife and i have one of my own forged bottle openers on the keyring so i'd be looking at pliers and screwdrivers as primary functions, tips on best model?
