Internally, i'll keep it simple and deal with just internal stuff for now. So just tested, switched the rule from OWA2003 to OWA2010, did flushdns and opened new IE window and i get 'page cannot be displayed'

ok attempting to simplify and make testing easier i've made two new publishing rules that are identical to the existing ones apart from they point to the new E2010 servername. when i switch the rules i get 'IE cannot display the page' (if i browse directly to the internal server name it gives me OWA2010 correctly)

We've always run one instance backing up, up to 9 machines. Initially we had 1 LTO3 tape drive then 2 LTO3 drives. That was being strained so our new DC has an LTO5 drive which now covers the two DCs and the old instance covers the remaining 4 servers

yes if i type https://exchange2010servername.domain.internal/owa i get OWA2010 and can log into the one mailbox just tested a 2003 mailbox and it pushed my over to OWA2003

i guess the next task is to test ISA forwarding to OWA2010 instead I've changed the ISA rule properties to look at my 2010 server instead of 2003 server but the traffic still heading straight to OWA2003

ok i had the OWA2010 external URL set to webmail.externaldomainname and it must have been going straight to 2003 regardless of the /owa host header. anyway, that's now changed and i'm able to log in to the test mailbox i moved to EXC2010 using OWA2010

currently any internal or external web requests to https://webmail.externaldomainname/exchange are forwarded to our OWA2003 box i think i need to undo the redirect from 2010 to 2003 for now to make sure OWA 2010 will function, at the moment i'm not even seeing it. I just can't figure out how to do that yet.....

yeah i'm internal, it presents me with a OWA2003 login page (actually i guess it might be a ISA2006 page) which i then put in my credentials and get through to OWA2003

yes it may be but it doens't present me with a OWA2010 login page at all, just shunts stright to the OWA2003 login page Is it taking my username from my domain/windows session? Yes https://new2010server.domain.internal/owa all mailboxes bar one test account (not mine) still reside on 2003

but if it hasn't asked for credentials yet how does it know where my mailbox lives?

ok, it's been a hectic few days, i get the feeling i've done something and can't remember what.

if i sit here and type in https://internal2010name.domain.internal/exchange it shunts me through to OWA2003 login screen without asking who i am How does it know, without first asking, where my mailbox is?

thankyou, so now i've got the CA web enrollment issuing certificates properly, but Exchange doesn't trust it :/

I'm in the process of migrating to Exchange 2010. Currently we have exchange 2003 published through ISA2006, the isa server has our external cert installed but the exchange box needs a cert issued by our internal CA to authenticate with. I was never that great at doing the occasional cert procedure but it also appears to have changed a bit now. Can someone advise me how to prepare a cert from my 2008R2 CA for EXC2010?

i'm trying to migrate piecemeal, avoiding disruption or too many changes in usage from the end-users perspective. If i can get OWA2010 up and running looking at the Exchange 2003 mailboxes, that's one step done. Then as time permits i can move mailboxe stores over to 2010 and as they move the users will have a consistent URL
