  1. Don't give up the day job
  2. IT teachers have the same restricted rights as other teachers. What you could do is have your 2 admin accounts but disable one which could be enabled by the HT in the case of your absence. All he needs is an mmc - right click - enable and possibly change the password. You then disable it on your return. Just a thought
  3. OK may have got it wrong about the template. Just looked it up and they provide a design and tech support service, but as long as you can ftp into your web space at bgfl I see no reason to not create your own.
  4. BGFL now supports php and you can use joomla for your web site. I think they even have a template setup for you.
  5. Very true but it's free for 2 years and beyond telling parents about it, no administration for us and we do a little more to protect kids. Like you say - whether parents take it up is beyond our control.
  6. Stone computers get them from Ramesys
  7. That update isn't working here in that the IE errors still happen. Logged it and they are looking at it
  8. If schools are getting it right 90% of the time then we aren't doing that bad are we? What is the comparison to the computers children use at home? Maybe the e-safety companies should start concentrating on pushing their products onto parents and guardians. In Birmingham that is happening. Birmingham Council are now giving out free software to help parents monitor PC/Internet usage. The battle has to be fought on both fronts!
  9. Ask any teacher - most of them are Drama Queens!
  10. What they sell does not work out the box. We spent months getting a fix which eventually sorted one problem but now there is another. It now sits on a server waiting to be sorted but we have moved on since. It was supposed to be a 'bolt on' for PCE - no chance!
  11. I'm not going now - apeo is going in my place.
  12. Thou shall worship all equipment blessed by the holy screwdriver of which may only be handled by your Lord Technician. Hallowed are the Technicians. Do we have enough to write our own bible yet?
  13. Thou shall praise and worship the ground walked upon by IT Technicians. (and pay them accordingly)

Good though Even the wife watched it and she never watches sci-fi
  15. Look here; Mal/Generic-A [sophos] | ThreatExpert Statistics ThreatExpert Report: Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.autf, Mal/Generic-A, Trojan-Dropper.Agent.. Mal/Generic-A Malicious behavior - Sophos security analysis
  16. That isn't sophos or IE specific - it's a version of the conflicker virus
  17. Sorry - forgot that bit ours is 45 seconds with black and white only. Capture limit is 50
  18. All ours are set to 20 with the exception of Network Security which is set at 2. However, I do manually check the captures on a regular basis.
  19. Would you believe it? BGFL have blocked the site!

But what about the teachers that run around screaming?
  21. No problem - nearer the time I'll send you the specs.
  22. Looks good - I'll have a proper look tomorrow
  23. I could have saved you some pennies there - we will have a load of the Buffalo APs going cheap as we replace them with Ruckus this summer
