  1. Hijacking an old thread Got my HTC Desire yesterday Anyone used compass mode when in Google street view yet? If not try it That is one cool app When you have it on, hold the phone up and turn 360 degrees Amazing!
  2. All photos of students and events are published to a photo album that we host on a server using JAlbum. Only authorised users can view them and saving is disabled. Can't do anything about Print Screen but the image would be small or of a poor quality and in addition we can track where it was printed and who printed it
  3. Look on the bright side - Look at all that disk space you are going to save
  4. I agree - you need to get to the root of the problem!
  5. Looks like we won't be buying any of these sir! Why? None of them come pre-installed with mint sauce!
  6. Nope not an ISA issue either, but thanks
  7. Nothing to worry about - it's been BSF'd
  8. Sorry, slightly off track here but why did you take screen shots? Powerpoint has the facility to convert all slides to .jpg files! Anyway - we use OneLan here but upgrading the software usually means having to spend more on upgrading the hardware too, so now we have about 3 different versions. We may look into alternatives that we can use on the current hardware we have such as Xibo.
  9. Just had a note from e-briefing to saying that we are to disregard the previous documentation (e-brief document No 7282) relating to manually updating Policy Central to v3102 as Version 3103 will be made available next week.
  10. It has to be done manually. Here the job isn't closed until GLPI has been updated
  11. I'm holding off the update for a while - some have updated without problems others, the opposite.
  12. Thanks - I'll get my expert to give it a try
  13. Has anyone had problems using Survey Monkey? This school is involved in the Sleep Project Survey which on the whole works fine. However we are getting occurances where a student gets part way through the survey and it just stalls. It's not a profile issue, there are no errors reported at our end. I've minimised the survey window and run youtube videos and visited other sites at the same time with no slowdown so does not seem to be an issue with the client or connections. It happens with random students at random times on random clients. The survey takes around 30 min to complete which means we have not had the opportunity to get the student log off and restart the connection but I suspect it would work fine. Other schools involved seem to have no problems. Is this just us or as anyone else had issues?
  14. For some reason we only seem to have small versions of our logo which look tatty when enlarged. We have Photoshop and Illistrator but not the expertise (yet) to fix this image as it's a bit complicated. Anyone up for the challenge of reproducing it to enable us to publish larger versions? We do have a .tif version which is too dark too but I can't attach it. (Not even zipped) Thanks in advance *Edit - .tif version now attached in the 7Z file
  15. I did mine in March and not received anything yet - looks like I'm in for a long wait. Booked on the FITS Manager course in September too.
  16. It's funny how a faulty aircon unit can kill a network We had an issue where we had a general power outage in the area which seemed to break the aircon unit. After power was restored the aircon failed to cool the air, temperatures rose to silly heights, server fans kicked into overdrive so much that they drained the UPS (Still recovering from the power outage) which then tripped the main fuse to the server room and down goes the network again. We are having the aircon upgraded but the school faces a problem in that it needs the electrical supply to the school to be upgraded before we can add any kit such as aircon units to anywhere in the school. Anyway - the result was a broken PSU in an old server which is hardly used - so we survived but it could have been a lot worse.
  17. As creese says it depends on what is said and who is able to read it. Are the comments slanderous, libelous or could be seen to put the workplace in a bad light in a way that it could affect future business? The list goes on and there are a lot of grey areas. Each case should be judged individually.
  18. The local scrap man would probably take the old cases off you for nothing if they have enough metal content in them.
  19. What about the stuff that can't easily be recycled like motherboards, laptops that have been stripped of anything useful like memory, keyboards and screens? I can get rid of whole units easily enough and usually make some money for the school, it's the other stuff we can't shift.
  20. Try something like this - just insert the correct IP address and DN info
  21. I'm still a noob over virtualisation but your plan above looks sound with the exception of virtualising both DCs. There are arguments for and against this but I prefer the option of keeping one DC on a physical machine and virtualising the other. The reasoning for this is in the event of a power failure for example when all the machines go off, the hosts still have a DC to refer to when they come back on line. Like I say, arguments for and against but that would be my preference.
  22. We use locked down GPOs to disable features or allow only certain products to run. E.G. Wordpad instead of MS Office. There is another thread covering common assessments somewhere.
  23. Is it just me or does that ratio look wrong? 200 computers for 800 students and 170 computers for 100+ staff. With the teachers laptops it looks like some staff have use of 2 computers while students have to make do with 1 computer between 4. Just looks odd.
