We had an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 for a couple of years. The quality was pretty good for A3 photos, but the inks were expensive. The Art department ended up buying a refilable ink reservoir system thingy and it would get blocked up frequently (It was a plastic reservoir that would sit on the side of the printer and you would use a syringe to top up the inks). The ink would either dry on the print head and cause a blockage (so a certain colour wouldn't print) or the tubes containing the inks would get blocked and require regular servicing. It worked out a fair bit cheaper to do it this way but it did cost a good few man hours unblocking the tubes and cleaning the print heads. Just a heads up in case you were considering this option.

The departments provide their own here too. We have quite a few cameras but not one per student. I don't think every student needs to be using a camera at the same time here. They have a booking system with the teacher and while some students are out taking photos/using cameras, the others are editing in the class room. The teacher keeps track of who has booked out equipment and makes sure it is returned ready for the next student. We find that some students prefer to buy and use their own cameras too.

Hello, We have 10x HP docking stations for sale (HP p/n: 575324-002). Photos attached. Unfortunately, we don't have the cables or power supplies for them. £20 for all ten if anyone is interested. Can be collected from us (Leicestershire) or we can get a price to post them if needed. Cheers.

Hello, We have 9x Toshiba Dynadock docking stations for sale. All have their original power packs and USB cables. All are pretty much as new, they have however been superglued to the underside of staff desks and so the bottom of the bases have bits of superglue remains. Photos attached. £10 each. Can be collected from us (Leicestershire) or we can get a price to post them if needed. Cheers.

I remember seeing these guys at a Bett stall a couple of years ago... FILMCLUB - Home I had a quick browse of their leaflets and it looked pretty cool. Might be useful to you?

I did something similar a few years back using InfoPath. The forms I made were all pretty simple, order forms, leave of absence, PL requests etc. Reduced the amount of paper forms here so thats good. I found this site to be helpful... Forums - InfoPath Dev Like I said, I wasn't doing anything too mental with my forms, just real simple stuff like adding up numbers, submitting to budget holders for approval, and storing the forms in a sharepoint document library for archive purposes.

Color Wheel is off on Smart Board 680, how do I fix?
Skibby replied to hmunster123's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Can you still get a free cleaning kit from SMART? Maybe they don't do them any more but I'm sure you used to be able to go to their website, enter your serial number or proof of purchase and they'd send you a little cleaning kit for the UF55. -
Adobe Creative Suite 4 - license key invalid for 64bit?
Skibby replied to dgsmith's topic in Educational Software
Do you have a log in for the Adobe licensing website? I think it shows your purchase history so you might be able to see your licenses when you bought CS4. There may be a seperate 64bit one to use? -
We use an HP Designjet z2100. I like it - simple to use and maintain and the quality is good. The art/design/photography students seem to like the results. The largest A size we can print on ours is A1 but we print from a roll of photo paper so we can print longer banners too. I don't think we've tried printing 'borderless' yet but there is an option to do so in the driver. All prints I've seen from it so far have a border.

Hey guys, Does anyone know if it's possible to get a replacement button panel for a SmartBoard UF55? A power button has been pushed in on one of our boards. The panel with the buttons sits just below the board and can be removed so I've dismantled the panel but the power button has snapped altogether. It would be great if I could just find a replacement set of buttons to clip onto the circuit board. There is a number printed on the plastic buttons and I've googled this but I didn't get any results. Does anyone know of someone that could help with this? Any good suppliers that you think could source a replacement part like this? Thanks in advance! Skibby.

With regards to the HaLion Synth issue, when you installed this, did you click the "Customise" button on the installation wizard and tick "Install for anyone"? I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and I think this sorted it for me.

Just had another two members of staff with the same problem. All with the same laptop and Win 7 Pro 64. Is anyone able to offer any suggestions? I'm going to have a look at it this week so if I sort it I'll post back on here. In the meantime, any suggestions on what might be causing this will be greatly appreciated. Cheers

You could try Complete Imaging. They're based in Birmingham and they provide printers/copiers etc with managed service contracts.

We've used Music Village before, might be worth checking them out... Musical Equipment for Schools & Education at Music Village Education Also, GAK might be worth a look if you're buying any hardware, I've used them before and not had any problems... GAK Education Afraid it's been a couple of years since I've checked on software prices so I can't really offer any help regarding up-to-date prices.

Hello, We've given our Art staff new laptops this term and one of our teachers is now unable to see the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray when her external hard drive is plugged in. She can still see her hard drive in Devices and can browse the contents of it, we just don't see the icon to safely remove it. If she plugs a memory stick into the new laptop, the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon does appear and it works fine, she can eject the memory stick no problem. The member of staff used this hard drive with her last laptop (HP ProBook 6550b, 2GB RAM, Win7 32-bit) and she was able to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature. The laptop is an HP ProBook 450, 4GB RAM, Intel Core i3 CPU @2.4GHz, running Windows 7 64-bit. The hard drive is a Toshiba V73600-C 1TB. Any idea why this is happening? Cheers, Skib.

We give each student a 'Student Handbook' on their first day and we have a page in there with ICT info and AUP. We include their username format, email address format, where to save their work, how to access shared drives, how to access stuff from home etc. The students have an hour with their form tutor at the start of the day and they're asked to talk this through with the students. We've just started to do short instructional videos too and put links to them on the VLE.

I didn't find a solution using Win7 32bit. However, we installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit on our PCs this Summer and since then, the dimensions in ProDeskop are working as they should.

Hi bwestlake, I know this is quite an old post now but did you manage to come up with a fix for this? I am currently looking at getting Adobe Lightroom 5.4 installed in our Photography suite but we have the same problem with the redirected home drives. Our students are also restricted from accessing the C: drive. If you did work out a fix for this, I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Cheers.

Hi everybody, I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on how to make a nice small default profile on a new image. I'm creating a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit image at the moment. It's not a huge image, pretty much just Windows 7, Office 2013, Movie Maker, iTunes and Google Chrome. When a new user logs on, it seems to take a while to log on (Usually over 2 minutes). When I look at the size of the local default profile, it tells me it's 1.56MB. The local admin account is 10.1MB and the network account I used to test it has a 60.2MB local profile (and all I've done is log on). Is this normal? It seems rather large to me. 2 minutes might not seem a long time, but when you're just watching a 'Welcome' screen for 2 minutes, students can get a bit impatient. Once I am logged on, the PC runs fine and is nice and quick. Has anyone else had this issue? And is there a way to reduce the size of these profiles (I'm guessing this is why it is taking this long to log on). I don't understand why the local profile of a new user would grow that big straight away. The laptop I'm building the image on has an AMD Turion II Dual-Core CPU @2.30GHz, 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Skib.

Hello, Can anyone recommend a good internet provider? We're looking at changing our internet provider at school and it'd be useful to hear who you guys use and if they're any good. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Connecting to me.embc.uk.com Popup
Skibby replied to Skibby's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I think I've managed to sort this. In the registry of the offending PCs there was a string value for "me.embc.uk.com" in HKUSERS>Software>AppDataLow>Microsoft>Office>14.0>Common>Portal. I have deleted the string value and the popups appear to have stopped! Good times. -
Connecting to me.embc.uk.com Popup
Skibby replied to Skibby's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have added the proxy exceptions but this doesn't seem to have solved the problem. We're still getting the popups. The popups seem to appear in any Office 2010 application though, not just Outlook as I stated earlier. We don't use me.embc.uk.com so I'm a little confused as to why some of our users are being prompted for credentials. I've logged a call with the EMBC helpdesk so if I get a solution from them I'll let you know. Any other suggestions would be appreciated though. Thanks again. -
Hi, A few members of our staff are getting a Windows security popup asking for their credentials to connect to me.embc.uk.com. This popup only seems to appear if the user has Microsoft Outlook open and will pop up every 30 mins or so. I've checked the users email account settings in Outlook for any data files etc that may be trying to connect to this but I can't find anything. We get our internet from EMBC but I don't know what me.embc.uk.com is. Does anyone else get this annoying popup and can anyone tell me how to stop it from appearing? Cheers. We're using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit and Office 2010.

Hello, Does anyone know of any good instructor lead Microsoft courses in the Midlands? I'm thinking of doing a Windows 7 and Server 2008 course but I'm stuggling to find any instructor lead courses on the web. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Cheers all.

Hello, I'm having some trouble when using the "Linear Dimension" tool in an Engineering Drawing with Pro Desktop 8 (build 1067 running on Windows 7 x32 bit). When I use the linear dimension tool to measure part of a drawing, I sometimes get a strange measurement that displays a value of something like 15-// or 03-03 instead of a normal measurement like 92.00 or 88.00. Does anyone know of a way to stop this happening? Or could this be something I am doing wrong? I've attached a screenshot of the problem so you can see what I mean. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
