  1. Do you mean Teacher App, Android support was dropped for that. Parent App is currently available on Android, iOS & Windows, we're testing it on all three platforms.
  2. Office 2010 support ends in with the SIMS Summer 2018 release, SQL 2012 was due to end SIMS support in Spring 2019 but this has just been extended
  3. How could you tell, I tried so had to hide it I've now upgraded SIMS & Discover on a test system and all looks fine so far
  4. The SIMS Spring 2018 Release is now available https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/sims-spring7180-release/ Have fun...
  5. Capita have advised that https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4011577/december-5-2017-update-for-excel-2016-kb4011577 fixes the issue
  6. The workstations need to have .net framework 4.5.2 installed for the agent to report back with the correct version. Solus3 only currently deploys version 4.5 Are firewalls on and are all required ports open and WMI enabled What does it say in the Agent log file on the workstation, that should give you an idea why SIMS isn't installing.

  8. Hi All For info from Capita forum (thanks Sally), awaiting Capita update "Just a heads up that recent Microsoft Excel Security updates seem to have broken any Excel report which creates a Pivot Table using 'old' code (prior to Excel 2010). This affects Excel 2016, probably 2013 (although I haven't tested) but not Excel 2010. After the updates, all the Capita pre-defined reports that create Pivot Tables 'on the fly' (which is all of them I think!) give an error message Method 'Create PivotTable' of Object 'PivotCache' failed. This includes all the Behaviour and Achievement reports that produce pivot tables e.g. Behaviour by Gender, Behaviour by Ethnicity etc as well as many others. I was able to resolve by uninstalling Excel security updates KB4011165 and KB4011050 (in that order) but that's not a good solution for schools. "
  9. Does anyone have any details on the company sending the emails - Who they are - Why they want to replace Groupcall - What they want to replace Groupcall with
  10. If there's someone at the School who's job is to administer SIMS, they should be telling you what permissions you need, not asking you and you posting here. That's a little worrying as that person is responsible for the security of SIMS at the school and should have an understanding of this.
  11. Thanks Phil, from your answer above, are you able to clarify if this means Office 2010 won't be supported from the Autumn 2017 Release
  12. it doesn't need exclusive use. I'd do it after the Autumn release is done and deployed to all Workstations with no issues first
  13. Look on Capita's site if you want version support info https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/SIMS-SOLUS3-Support/ SIMS SOLUS3 Support Capita's latest news and information on SIMS SOLUS3 Support 21/11/2016 What versions of SOLUS3 do Capita Support? There has been some debate on the forums regarding the support of SOLUS3. I am pleased to confirm that we will provided ongoing support for SOLUS3 versions 3.10 and 3.11
  14. This is a known problem, the Macros are not signed again. We found it in testing and Capita have reproduced it and are working on a fix
  15. The details would also show when it's published if you use the data collection sheet in SLG
  16. They are in the database. They are imported , either individually or in bulk You can use a report to extract copies Or Salamander have a free extraction tool - have used many times and works well Free Utilities | SalamanderSoft Limited
  17. It's been on some of our test systems since it was released on the 4th. All looks ok so far and no re-release in over a week...
  18. As Phil said above, it's not in SIMS, it's the computer settings
  19. Try changing everything to USA, save and then back to UK on the Workstation
  20. You could write and schedule a script to search Discover.Warehouse.Service.log for problem key words, e.g the word "ERROR", and then return the line containing the key word and if the date = time of test then you know that something is wrong. Example of "ERROR" in log file
  21. This is probably to try and make it a smoother process for schools. The SOLUS3 System Admin manual states WARNING: When a SIMS or FMS upgrade is run using SOLUS3, any open instance of that software on that machine will be closed automatically. This action enables SOLUS3 to continue its upgrade. If the software is not closed, the files will be locked by the operating system and this can prevent the upgrade from running. SOLUS3 will drop any SQL connections to do the upgrade so users would save any unsaved work. Re scheduling, you can schedule the upgrade in SOLUS3 for any time that you want, have your LA not given you notes on this
  22. Running two will be a real pain, can't you merge into the new one. You'll also need to make sure that you are licensed to use both.
  23. The SIMS & Discover Summer 2016 Release 7.170 is now out. Have fun all...
  24. SIMS won't let you delete any staff that are linked to Student records (attendance marks, etc) Don't forget there are data retention requirements to consider when deleting school data
  25. All the above is good. Make sure WMI is running on the clients If firewalls are on and you have problems installing then make sure ports and WMI are allowed And DNS...
