We've got a bit of a trial for Adobe Connect and have fallen in love with it... Has anyone procured this for their establishment as a "self host" config? Just wondered what sort of specs are required and what the licensing costs are?

Sophos Library Issues

Ditto! It's bizare! -
You're not alone Beeswax! I finished work on Friday and thought I'd get some food shopping. Someone was jumping up and down like crazy and I didn't realise that they were trying to attract my attention. It was the person who normally serves me at the local garden centre and even then I didn't recognise them!.... -slaps head-

Watching F1 whilst having a glass of Magners :-) Come on Button! :-D

This! Got to say though, if it's a choice between JD and Coke and JD and Dr Pepper, then Dr P wins! Good morning to all those hungover btw!

Well, I've got to say - lesson learnt! I'll have to try again this weekend to do the job properly! :-P

After a loooooong half term, I thought that it was time to have at least one weekend off.... which was seriously enjoyable but as most of our weekends go, we have a pleasant debate about something even if it's about traffic cones? So I'm bringing it here: Which order should you drink alcoholic drinks?

With the possibility in mind that I might get Neg rep (Bring it on I say!), I think that danrhodes was not out of line. We all get those moments when staff can be perhaps a little abrupt and demand that we stop what ever we are doing if if we are in the middle of a corridor, carrying a server or something heavy, to come and fix a problem which turns out to be something that a little process of elimination was not applied to..... Like plug a VGA lead in so that the projector will display an image. Pardon the assumption however, I thought that Behind the Red Door was for such occurrences to allow members to vent and humour the issue without causing embarrassment or insult to anyone? By the same token and please danrhodes, I am by no means insulting you here, I'd guess you appreciate the risk that a member of staff at your establishment could be registered on this site and see your comment. When all said and done, if you want to get grammatically correct about it, (how ironic is that considering I've missed several comma's but I've had a large glass of wine so please neg rep me grammar police) danrhodes's post was not an opinion but sarcasm. Teachers teach, we do the technical stuff! Some staff mock and insult us, we mostly have to take it. In short, my attitude is this after seeing these posts: I am a long time reader, new contributor. With any community, there is always some form of squabble due to posts that can be interpreted in many ways unintentionally which can't be helped unless you spend about a day looking at it from every view point possible which is why some people avoid posting to avoid the hassle. I try and stick to the technical stuff and avoid the general chit chat for this reason although do try to say hello. Seeing posts like this on the front page of the website IMO is not welcoming to new users, nor is the negative Rep for an opinion. Personally, its like a competition to answer as many questions as possible to get the most thanks which is why I'm edging away from Spiceworks more and more. Perhaps what would be more appropriate is a post Useful / Unuseful system? Is this out of line?

Hi all I know I have bumped into a few people who have enrolled however, I just wondered if anyone would mind giving me any feedback? I have implemented the system for a couple of smaller installs however, this has been a script based user sync therefore and there is no single sign-on, password sync etc. I've completed some testing on a fresh test bed with a similar install to the destination with working password sync (after loads of headache) and lots of e-mails because Microsoft kept sending the wrong password to unpackage the certificate (facepalm) and it looks good. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions before I flick the switch?

This week, I have been mostly eatin' cheese and piccalilli or cheese and salad cream http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v285/188/36/638006416/n638006416_877488_6869.jpg

We use Demon Tools also with Demon Script. This allows you to create a script which will mount the network based ISO, apply any emulation and then launch an application. You can then create a shortcut to the script on your Start Menu. The one slight thing with this is we use a few second delay before launching the app to allow the ISO to mount...... students sometimes think that it hasn't worked so keep hitting the mouse button.. *slaps head*

Hi swpmre What sort of scenario do you want to achieve? Do you have a number of laptops for example that you wish to place in a library and use the welcome screen to display a student logon etc?

Doncaster Schools
RSoP_Robbers replied to RSoP_Robbers's topic in Yorkshire & Humberside Grid for Learning (YHGfL)
I couldn't find anywhere else on the site so thought this may be as good a place as any to start with. Thanks Marc! -
I know that this is perhaps the wrong area but we are curious what other Doncaster Schools are kicking about on here for a bit of a catch up if nothing else? Please don't shoot me forum police!

Yikes.... Keep on with the support e-mails and I will see if I can dig out the details of who we dealt with. There was a few of us involved so I may have to e-mail round. Keep me posted! They are quite good!

Hi RabbieBurns, It could be that the Edu Team are uncertain if you are an educational establishment and have therefore declined your enrolment and transferred you to the Live Mail program provided by Live Domains. We had a similar problem but after a support call to the team so that they could verify our existence / identification, we were back online. I wouldn't change any more settings at the moment but send an e-mail ASAP and you should get a reply possibly even tonight? I have had communications with them during a weekend so they are VERY good!! Hope this helps! Keep me posted and will help where possible! :-)

Mesh.com

Is it the LA that has blocked it? -
Could I also trouble someone for a link if possible?
-
Has / does anyone use Mesh.com? I set it up before Christmas with our internal ICT team and our Trust / Sponsor's ICT team allowing us to share documents and work across different sites but suddenly, the machines have stopped synchronising and now we are getting a page YHGFL page block? Things are getting worse as this was our solution since we still cannot use a TS Gateway due to security implications.... Break out the pringle tins and an array of 3GS dongles?
