It's the AD SSO httpproxy authentication issues in Chrome/IE that stopped me from updating. So glad I held off! Sounds like a completely botched update from Sophos and it's not the first time.....

Interestingly, it looks like 9.5 has now been pulled and replaced with 9.414-2. The option to update to 9.5 is no longer showing on my UTM https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/b/utm-blog/posts/utm-up2date-9-414-released

How about Veeam Backup Agent for Windows? Not used it myself but I believe you can backup physical servers with it and its free.

Best practice, fresh install every time. In the real world, it's not always possible though!

Maybe try unchecking "enable hardware accelaration" in Advanced settings in Chrome? Could also be a video driver issue perhaps?

Morning all, Im looking at Microsoft Teams and am trying to configure it in the O365 portal but get an "unable to retrieve settings" message when I click on it in the Services & add-ins section (see attached). Anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Michael

Not sure how your phones work but for ours, from memory we untag the port on the switch with the PC VLAN, and tag the same port with the phone VLAN. Then we have some additional scope options in our VOIP DHCP scope to identify the voice VLAN.

It's perfectly possible to VLAN phones and PCs, even if the PC is connected via the phone. We use Avaya here and many of our PCs connect in exactly the same way. The phone is in a completely separate VLAN to the PC.

I think I've fixed it. I needed two extra Urls in the exception list: ^https?://([A-Za-z0-9.-]*\.)?msappproxy\.net/ ^https?://([A-Za-z0-9.-]*\.)?servicebus\.windows\.net/ This seems to have done the trick.

Hi all, I'm setting up a trial of Office 365 and I've successfully set up authentication using AD Azure Connect. Everything works fine and I can log in to Office 365 using my school AD account, except when SSL decryption is turned on on our Sophos UTM. Usually, I'd create an exception to get round any SSL scanning issues but I've tried this with some urls I've found from googling the web but I still can't login to Office 365 unless SSL scanning is turned off. I can't even seen any blocked URLs in our web filtering log to indicate what might be the issue. Does anyone have any experience on getting this working? Thanks in advance. Michael

+1 for Wordpress. Very easy to install and set up and there are some amazing themes like X theme, or Divi, that can be modified without any dev skills, to look exactly like you want. Plugins give you just about as much or as little extra functionality as you need. Need to be careful with security, as with any CMS, which normally involves keeping up to date with core and plugin versions but for ease of day to day use, it's a walk in the park, compared to Joomla or Drupal, for example. I create Wordpress sites for businesses, in my other life away from school, so feel free to PM me if you need any advice.

I'm just in the middle of doing something similar. I'm using a Magewell HDMI USB 3 capture device and OBS to stream. I'm able to stream to Youtube, or Facebook Live, whilst at the same time, capturing the video to my PC and SD Card in the camcorder. You need to have a PC with a good spec to use OBS and alter the bitrate/scaling settings to make sure that the video streams smoothly but once you get it set up, it works really well. It also allows you to set up an rtmp stream, using something like Mona Server, which can then be opened with VLC or similar, to stream across a network.

The other thing to bear in mind with leased lines is the service level, which standard asynchronous lines may not offer. For example, we had an issue a year or so ago, where a contractor to the water board, dug through our leased line cable, just outside the school on Saturday morning. By Sunday evening, the line had been repaired and was back up and running. Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

General best practice, always do from scratch wherever possible. We recently moved our SIMS server from physical to virtual. Very simple process.

+1 for Zen and Sophos UTM. We've used Zen for almost 6 years and apart from when a water board contractor cut through the cable with their digger, we've had 0% downtime. So much easier to talk to real technical people, than BT too. Sophos UTM is a great product. We've got the fullguard package which protects almost everything and provides Email protection, WAF, endpoint, etc. Recently introduced Meraki wifi and BYOD and the Sophos interacts very nicely with it.
