This - NTFSFix will fix your permissions. For quotas you maybe running something else but in Server 2008 R2 with FSRM you don't need the user set as the folder owner to apply quotas (set it as auto apply template on subfolders) although if you want to do the email alerts you will......

Does anyone have a old 1U KVM (with built in monitor) knocking around that they would be able to give up for free/a fair price? Can't justify a £800+ one thats new unless anyone knows of one thats a bit more reasonable. Cheers! James

Bottom right side of google.co.uk has a link that says google.com - just click that

Make sure you are at google.com (not .co.uk).

You can put multiple protection groups on one tape through the 'co location' feature, more details here - HYPER-V and SYSTEM CENTER: Media Co-location in DPM 2012

You may want to have a look at a string of posts I did here - Series: Virtual Desktops on PCI-E SSD « my world of IT Are also working on a RDS farm that uses SSD as well - Series: Custom RemoteFX RDS Farm « my world of IT

What is the particular error you are getting?

Having no programs installed on the PC and letting App-V look after start menus is what we do here (it dynamically creates them based upon the users security group membership). Other than that its locally profiles that are deleted on log off - things like favs are redirected though.

You can install Windows 7 from a USB stick if that is what you are meaning??

One of the key ideas of Server 2012 is that everything will be remotely managed and you will rarely need to 'touch' a server. The idea is that you configure the server using the full GUI version, DSIM it down to core edition (yes you can migrate from full fat to core without a reinstall) and then remotely manage everything with RSAT.

We've given the system centre products their own machine (on the same grounds you mentioned about theres no point in it being a VM) - separate from our two virtual hosts. Its only a old HP DL385 G1 (yes you saw right) but it runs 64bit fine and in turn runs SCVMM fine Do mean to swap it out with something a little more power efficient when we can though....

Hyper-V improvements are my key thing for it - we don't have or want a SAN so the new live migration tools look great. Ablity to move between server core/GUI is something I am intrested in as well.

Nice place to start - thanks

We are looking for 4 dome style IP CCTV cameras to use as a temporary fill in in a few parts of the school while we muster the funds to crack out some more of the Axis cameras we use and love. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for some basic cameras (say 640x480px) that work on a IP network (PoE enabled) for around the £150 mark?

You could in fact get a @live.com alias as well not so long ago. Lets remember what junk kids sign up for - I would like to bet half of that 'spam' is stuff they have only brought on themselves. It is pure marketing drive, only the stupid tech blogs (oh and the BBC) out there are falling for it. All the same the Metro UI is new and the long term changes around having a Microsoft account and not a Windows Live account are new.

When was the last time you looked at hotmail? Many of the features in Outlook.com have just come over from the last major upgrade (Sweep/built in IM/ect) - outlook.com is little more than a reskin and a relaunch.........
-
Don't think I have had any spam make it to my hotmail inbox in quite some time (although Junk fills up nicely!). With the changes from Windows Live to Microsoft accounts the rebranding makes sense so yes they did have to rebrand but maybe not for the reasons you suggest.

Been testing with the Beta/RC and it works fine Lets remember the OS has been out and being used by people for quite some time now - the RTM is almost like the SP1 that people used to wait for.

KMS - easy as anything to manage Never had anyone hit the 180 days but then again our staff have only their notebook for use, we have site wide Wi-Fi to make sure its network connected and even for the 1 staff member who works from a far he just hooks up onto the VPN

Wonderful refresh of Hotmail in my POV - then again I'm one of those who will be queuing up (if that turns out to be the right term or not I don't know!) outside John Lewis/whoever for a Microsoft Surface on launch day! Jumped on a full name email address alias as well, won’t be changing permanently from my Hotmail address though anytime soon (not just because of the issues with Windows Phones).
