I'm currently looking at possibly replacing some fibre runs and possibly edge switches as they are daisy chained! I suddenly realised that if I de-daisy chain all the affected areas it would mean I wouldn't have enough capacity on my current fibre switch, so this bring me to my questions.... Currently my core is made up of a a D-Link DXS3600 fibre switch and a HP 2920-48G. Do I purchase another D-Link DXS3600 and stack the D-Links together or do I replace the core setup altogether with something else such as a modular system?. I'm open to suggestion. I do need at least 4 x 10G fibre connections for my servers My edge switches are currently a mixture of HP 2920-24/48G, Netgear GS724/48T (v1 - v3), so do I stick at 1GB core -> edge or do I replace the Netgear edge switches with something that has a 10Gb uplink and stick a 10Gb module kit in the HP 2920 switches? Some of the switches will be over 5 years old Once the network have been de-daisy chained I am planning to introduce VLANs so I can segregate traffic including BYOD devices. I was planning to cost it as me doing all the work (buy pre-terminated fibres etc) but then again, is it worth the hassle? would it be better to get someone in to do everything? Cheers

I realised 2 things... 1. I was using VDI and not vmdk which solved my 1st issue 2. Once I removed the difference as suggested it worked :-) Happy Days

Could you share the steps you used to get your VM running from a NAS please. I'm trying and failing as when I make the VHD immutable, the VM complains about differencing disks. Cheers

Not noticed any issue with 1610 sccm imaging machines but have noticed issue with 1610 dpm randomly dropping connections to hosts

Have a look at CPOMS - we have just bought this as several schools in the area already use it and raved about it. I have set up the SIMS.net part for exporting details into CPOMS - other than that I can't tell you anything else about it.

Are the valve casing aluminium or plastic? Wonder how they would fair over time. Plastic mouth piece/ instruments are create for outside but I found they do give a slightly different tone. I've set up a test policy with smoothwall to allow it on Art computers only and on a timed schedule so it is only available during the photography lessons. The head wants to try that with the member of staff running ABTutor and to review it after a couple of weeks. I have pointed out that the obvious to everyone so I have emails covering myself if all goes south!

Our head of Art/Photography has asked if there is anyway year 11 photographers could have access to Pintrest or perhaps another platform for research? as students the will need to research initially for photographers and brain storm ideas. Pintrest blocked by default due to some of the images available on Pintrest. I have email the member of staff back and included the head as I feel I am not the right person to be deciding we should allow students to a site which does hold images not suitable for students. So.... I am wondering, do other schools allow access to Pintrest?

I would recommend sharp with paper cut - it just works! Used both biometrics and proximity readers - and would recommend proximity readers, less hassle and also cheaper.

Our users authenticated to the wireless using radius and works well for the most part. So devices have been linked to a user. We have an internal home page which is displays items on the page depending on AD groups. - Works well for domain connect devices... I can redirect wireless uses to this page when they connect to the wireless and agree to Wireless AUP - but they get prompted to enter logon details again - not the end of the world but it is a pain! I want the IIS server to use the Radius server to automatically authenticate users - (similar to how Windows Authentication for Domain connected devices) if that makes sense.

Our landing page for all browsers uses Windows based Authentication so things like username, etc appear on the page. This works great for domain connected devices....... On BYOD... how can I get Radius authenticated devices automatically without having users type in their logon details. Server is running Server2012 with IIS Cheers Mark

I opted to migrate as we had an onsite exchange 2010 box and read it would make life difficult if trying to rename the domain - I cant remember where I read it as it was over a year ago. Took copied of the existing VMs and ran them on an isolated box so I could test migration without affecting things. Used ADMT to migrate users including password. I could have migrated mailboxes but I opted to export as pst and then import them again. May be a long shot but check the bios, there is sometimes a setting for auto brightness - I had an issue once where I had to disable it (can't remember what make/model laptop tho)
