Dang it!!! I have Software Metering setup BUT didnt add the software to list.

I think I enabled that when I installed SCCM couple of years ago and then forgot all about it. Will check when I get back to my office.

Is there a way SCCM can check to see if some pieces of software have been used? Looking to see if some "I really need this software" has been used this year. Cheers.

When I replaced our WiFi back in February I opted for the NanoHD with the view of over x number of years devices will change and improve and take advantage of the NanoHD features.

As much as I would like to fight NRS/Civica on this I think we will need to bite the bullet and upgrade everything - them using the term "not supported" is a subtle way saying they can charge more if things go wrong etc.

I have sent a simple short reply asking about the make/model and spec of the proposed replacement tills they quoted - 15” EPOS Touch Screen Terminal I think the fact they are using the like "Our partner, the manufacturer of the hardware does not support or warranty the use of Windows 10 64bit on the SP800" is their reasoning for replacing the tills for version 8 of NRS.

Finally had a reply from NRS! According to them - "Our partner, the manufacturer of the hardware does not support or warranty the use of Windows 10 64bit on the SP800, the hardware in general is simply old technology which is not robust or fast enough to support the extra power required to run a 64 bit application, we have conducted testing ourselves and have concurred with their findings that the till will simply not even boot and run let alone run the till software and peripherals." Interesting..... they say the SP800 wont even boot with Win10 x64........ me thinks they are trying pull the wool over the eyes! Time I crafted a suitable reply!

We currently use a VM (immutable vhd, no network connectivity, VirtualBox UI locked down for students) like jthompson but come September will be moving away from that due to them wanting to use Visual Studio and Unity and that requires internet access to check the licence etc. Used a central VHD sat on a network share on which made it easier to update etc. May keep the VM as sandbox to test/compile their apps etc as they dont have permission to save or run apps from their home folders.

I've been asked by a member of staff who has received a form for this company who run courses for schools why they need this information. The form is asking for Gender, Ethnicity, DOB which I am puzzled why they are asking for these details as their privacy notices says they will use this data to ensure they receive their certificate and to link their with their project (if applicable). So I am puzzled why they need Gender, Ethnicity, DOB for a certificate etc. They also ask for medical/dietary needs which I can understand if they are they for the day and are been food. certainly a possibility. I've changed IP address and disabled the original IP address on the interfaces but it is still being reported as having 80+ thousand access in the last 15 mins. Have posted on the Smoothwall area asking what constitutes an "access" and I should be getting reports on the IP address even though it has been disabled.

Already thought about switching to a different IP for traffic, problem is that all external IP address I have are in use - currently rejigging things so I can swap over to another IP and then remove the IP that is being targeted. What I find very strange in that the website/moodle/RDP IP addresses are not being targeted.

Well as we dont pay for DDOS Mitigation there is very little they can do for us other than null all traffic and send it to a black hole - BUT we would experience a loss of connectivity. Have asked for a quote. In the mean time, looks like servers are from Azure, Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co. Ltd, Infolink LLC and a host of other places. Looks like i'll have to weather the DDOS storm and hope it calms down soon!

With M247 - just spoken to them and they are currently investigating for me Dont really monitor the firewall and only noticed when the connection started dropping and logged on to the smoothie box to see what was going on.

Currently our internet connection is experiencing some issues - smoothwall has have detected 83249 accesses to our external IP address in the last 15 minutes The accesses are coming from random IP address. Any suggestions on how I can try and combat this?

Totally forgot about offline mode. Not sure I will be able to get the sync working as I don't have the installer for that - unless I can fudge it and see what ocx/dll files need registering when I run the sync program.

@sonofsanta I managed to get it half working.... Removed the existing SSD and inserted a new SSD - just so I can swap drives and hand the til back to the canteen staff in time for lunch times! Installed Win10 x64 and the touchscreen drivers. Installed VC 2005, 2008, 2010 Installed SQL Express 2008 and attached the blank databases (not sure why there were there) Installed the Loopback adapter with the address 192.168.0.1 (all tills seem to have this configured ) Added a reg frag I took from a working till - just so I have the correct database/ip details. Installed Truste - and able to run Truste.exe so I can run the admin side from till When I ran the TillXP.exe, it came up with the till suspended screen - when I entered the id number to open the till, not all the till/epos screen appeared - so I am assuming I have missed something. Need to see if I can find some RAM as the tills only have 2GB so not ideal!! - especially as they all seem to run SQL Express! Will be looking at the thing later on this week - annoyingly, emailed Civica for an update from them to see what isn't 64bit compatible and I'm still waiting for a reply!

Still no reply from NRS - so in the mean time....... My P2V of the Win7 box running the system worked fine - Box was running Win7 x64 Pro, so I have managed to do an inplace upgrade to Win 10 X64 pro - and upgrade from SQL2008r2 to SQL 2014 and the thing still works. I have a till running Win10 x64 and can see the database but I think I am missing a step somewhere as the till isn't talking to the system correctly (at the moment) Does anyone have any details on how to add a new till to the NRS system? Normally I wouldn't bother spending time on something like this - but since they want £159 a till to replace the drive with an SSD running Win10 (32 bit) and then charge me a further £800 for an engineer to do the work AND insist the tills wont run x64 when they clearly do in my opinion is a bit of a take!

Ok....idiot question time....... as I misunderstood things. Say I have 1100 user but only want to install on 100 devices - how many SDL Licences would i need? Cheers

From what I understand the shared device (CC 2018) will no longer be available next year so would need to move to the per user model (CC 2019) Licences cost less but you would need more licences which is a pain especially when it comes down to knowing how many you may or may not need.

Usage is just everyday Office stuff with the off bit of internet stuff. Staff mainly use it from home or if they have their BYOD devices in school. The last time I looked we had approx 30 staff using it! Yep, was thinking SSD. I seem to remember someone a link to a site where you you could buy 1 server and get a 2nd free but for the life of me I cannot remember the site! Can HP Proliant DL380p servers take normal SSD drives?
