On the other hand, I'm 100% glad we didn't go to LTSB and went with CB Education, mainly because we're now running apps that refuse to run on LTSB.

I can't imagine anything more annoying than removing search from the start menu at this point. Don't forget you don't actually have to click search to get that box... you can just open the start menu and begin typing - if anything it's a much quicker way to open apps than using the desktop or scrolling through a start menu.

You'll make your life a lot easier if your internal domain UPN matches the domain in Office365. You shouldn't cause any trouble by changing internal users' UPN, in my experience. Simply add your Office365 domain as a UPN in AD and change each user's UPN in Active Directory Users and Computers.

I solved this by replacing the OneDriveSetup.exe in the Windows 10 WIM with the latest download from the Microsoft site, which sped it up considerably. I'll deploy the AADL reg to my test users and see if it fixes it, thanks

Has anyone got SSO working with OneDrive? I've got it all working brilliantly, but I need the Windows 10 OneDrive client to sign in automatically. SSO is working, but the users need to initiate it by putting their e-mail address in :/

Education 1703 at the moment. Testing a 1709 upgrade that I want to roll out ASAP so we can switch to OneDrive with files on demand.

We give out the cheapest iPhones (5s last time I had to get some) we can get, on EE business contracts. These have Meraki MDM and are enrolled in DEP in case they're ever lost or stolen. Address books are kept up to date through our Exchange GAL.

I'm not surprised, I find smaller companies easier to deal with nowadays, it seems more personal.

Been running UniFi APs for about 5 years now, just getting around to upgrading them to the AC Lite models. Zero issues, great price, amazing throughput.

This is only for people specifically working in surveillance or as a CCTV operator. Running CCTV for the purposes of crime prevention and property preservation don't require this, especially as using the images for identification is up to the police, not us. Maybe I'm missing something but Page 10 doesn't have anything relevant? Schools aren't "manned guarding" nor providing contractual services.

Sophos UTM SG and XG fits all those. SG was *wonderful* to manage, XG not so much but it's getting there! They provide trials/home licenses you can use to setup a VM based UTM if you want to have a play.

Yeah, not that much work and it makes managing MBAM across many devices a lot easier since it gives you access to more group policy settings, and a ton of reporting. It integrates well with SCCM if you're using that too.

Might be worth investing in the MDOP suite from Microsoft. I believe if you're on an EES agreement with Desktop licensing it's already included. MODP MBAM will make your life managing BitLocker 10x easier.

You don't need to use an authorised reseller to add them to DEP anymore. With iOS11 you can add them into DEP using Apple Configurator 2. Food for thought.

Who did you ring? It sounds like you need to talk to Apple enterprise support who actually seem to know what they're doing. We're not seeing this issue at all on our new iPads.

It's a powerful tool and has helped us a few times in different situations involving police, staff, and intruders. As with anything GDPR/DPA it's a potential minefield, but that doesn't mean you bury your head in the sand. Get compliant before turning the system on, though. You need stickers on entrances to buildings, publicly visible signs detailing contact information for the scheme operator, the policy should be made available to the public on your website and signed off by governors, and you need to register the fact you're recording CCTV with the ICO. Log absolutely anything you do on it in terms of access and maintenance. Just be as transparent as possible. We had support from our LA on writing policies etc.

It's not. We were told by the ICO that if images requested by a parent included other children, staff, or parents then we should not disclose the images to the requesting parent. The only people with access to CCTV in our school is me (IT) and the headteacher. Our policy says all requests must be in writing, approved by the headteacher, and complaints on decisions can be taken up with the governors, £10 is payable before delivery of images. Police are allowed to be sent recordings, but they're logged in a book in the office and signed by the officer. Realistically it's too awkward for anyone external to be bothered.
