Assuming you are using Apache, the link below may well resolve your problem. If it is useful to some then fine, but just because a lot did/do doesn't mean it should be globally accepted - which was often the tone of advice coming from Becta themselves, or via LAs misinterpreting the "guidance". My point was it is a fairly pointless and potentially expensive exercise, given the fact that most LAs and schools already have preferred supplier lists + the fact that Becta are being wound down.

Do you find that you are getting users report a HTTP 500 error quite frequently, and not just relating to uploading? I have an almost identical setup to you and had problems quite a while back which we managed to resolve in the end by schedulling some tasks... more info coming when I find it in my sent items! PS - Actually, I should have asked if you are using Apache first before saying we had an almost identical setup?

Has there been a final date of termination published for these guys yet? I can't help wondering how much money could have been saved by not having their team research this list and generate it in to a publication - especially as it is one which most of use will arguably not value/use.

It may be worth doing an Exchange ActiveSync test on https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and seeing what results come back? Are you the only mobile user using this type of device, or do others have this working?

Are you the Exchange Admin? If not, check that mobile messaging is enabled on your account. If you are confident you are putting in all urls/passwords correct, try going back in to the settings and turning off ssl - I've had really odd things with that at times on a previous install.

For the SMTP issue do you have only a direct/internal SMTP feed or is the smtp feed redirected from your ISP? (I would suspect the later, and that mail is still being routed externally to your legacy server?) For the OWA issue, did you have external access working while co-existing? If not, is the external URL different to the internal DNS name? (E.G does external = mail.domain.com/owa and internal = servername/owa / servername.domain.com/owa?) If so, you might need to go in to Server Configuration > Client Access and check the Internal and External urs are correct for OWA Failing all of that, try doing some tests on https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ - it's helped me out before.

I might be missing something obvious here, but when you say there are no scheduled tasks.... Start > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler ?

I've had a quick scout around on the samsung site for information/pricing on MagicInfo-i, but haven't had much luck. Is this a paid for app, or can existing MagicNet users get it for free? (If so, is there a link you could post?)

I've always found it odd that the US went from an apparent obsession with the moon up until the late 70's then essentially stopped. So much new technological advances since then yet they still haven't ventured back, with only India and China (i think) heading in that direction with unmanned missions recently. Something certainly doesn't add up - whether it is the above or not!

I've been using it for a while. Oddly the only problem I've noticed other than Moodle is with it is on Edugeek - on some threads the page width seems to grow and allow you to scroll left and right in to loads of empty background.

I'm on site at one the the primaries today, so XP here sadly! I will give that a go too (after googling to see exactly what it does lol!)

Interesting! I stumbled accross this thread when searching due to having the exact same problem - server2008r2 being used as a file server for user home directories. Not that it's a fix, but I can comfirm turning the firewall off DOES resolve the issue. If anyone does have a more secure fix I'd be interested in giving it a go.

Hi Witch, No, you hadn't upset me in the slightest. My point was that blunt statements like those made in your first post can often have an opposite effect than the one intended on a person who is in the the situation the OP is (and by the sound of it we have both been in). As you say, the OP doesn't seem concerned so all is well and hopefully we have both helped in our own ways. Further discussion/explanation would detract from the purpose of the thread, and "TBF" probably be pointless, so i'll keep it at that. Sorry for veering off the main topic OP.

*Edit/addition to my previous message:* @witch I should really have added that I'm not at all disputing the depression suspicion by the way - I am in complete agreement! Everything I have written above actually releates to the treament/resolution of both depression and insomnia, including the reference of having been there myself.

@Witch - As much as I respect what I think you are trying to get accross in the above message, I'm not too sure the bluntness on referals will help. I also completely disagree with the line about pills. I don't pretend to know anything about your background, and apologise in advance if this is something that you have been through personally and found to work for you - but everyone else is different and what works for one does not always work for another. If someone is suffering with depression, anxiety, sleeplessness or any other separate issues, they need to find suitable ways to cure each one. In cases where there are multiple issues pills will often form part of the overall solution. I hope I explained the above well enough to let you know I'm not having a go at you. I just know that someone imparting horror at prescription pills and advising consultation with psychologist/iatrist would have probably knocked me back down (and I have been there in a very similar situation), and possibly may with the OP.

Yeah, Zopiclone makes you feel that way generally. I took it for a while and recall the feeling of spinning / laughter before eventually falling to sleep. I'm fairly sure I was on either 25 or 30mg. How long did you stick with it? It took me a week or two to get my head around the odd feeling, but length of sleep built up and normalized after that. Once you get to that stage you can look to decrease dosage if you're happy to. Another alternative to discuss with the doctor may be Nortriptyline. It is prescribed for a multitude of reasons, but its links with insomnia, depression and anxiety might work well for you. It's very mild but quite effective.

It doesn't sound to me like your Doctor is being particularly helpful. Is there another doctor who you can get a second opinon from - perhaps look to make an appointment on a day you know your Doc isn't working if you don't want to outright as for a second opinion? Do you suffer with any other related symptoms like headaches, dizziness, restless leg syndrome? Did Zopiclone have absolutely no effect? What doesage / strength were you on?

While I would agree with the general comments about pay - which seems much lower than post part of the county (even Cornwall!!) - I wouldn't quite see the role as all doom and gloom. Experienced Network Managers who want to progress are unlikely to apply unless there are other benefits (maybe they want to move to the area and can afford a pay cut etc), but the role sounds like a great opportunity for a Middle/Senior Technician type to grasp with both hands, make any sweeping changes that are needed and then move on with a solid reputation and "Network Manager" experience if/when it suits them.

Sorry for not replying yesterday - I'm in the middle of a complete network rebuild in a primary school.... fun! I'm curious - was the defunct DC 2003 by any chance? If it was non-R2 i've seen compatability issues before when people have tried copying/importing them in to a newer server.

On your 2008 server go to Administrative Tools > Group Policy Management. When it opens you familiar(ish) AD tree down the left hand side. Expand your domain and click on the Group Policy Objects folder, you shoudl then see a list of every policy for your domain. If you notice the TerminalServer policy in there, click on it and it will show you the OU's that it is linked to. From there it is your choice whether you choose to delete, disable or unlink from the individual OU's to test/see whether it gets rid of your errors

The error message seems to suggest it is just the Terminal Server policy at fault (unless you get multiple error messages with different adml names?) It might be that it is applied at domain level, but doesn't look like it is the "domain policy". What Server OS are you running?
