  1. What is it? And whose the "fast food"? Me, or it?
  2. I'd say dual head wherever possible, just don't be tempted by USB VGA adapters. I've had no end of problems with them on teachers PC's. Can never seem to get the right resolutions displaying correctly through the projectors.
  3. I'm 100% certain @fiza's right. I still have a few 2003 servers and our current forest/domain function level is 2008R2. We don't have any problems. It's just the DC's that need to be same or higher.
  4. Not tried it, but doesn't Win7 uses a different version of user profiles that's not compatible with Win2k3? I'm sure that's the issue we've run into in the past.
  5. We are also going through this process at the moment. I have a small list of suppliers I'll be contacting in the next month for tenders (all the usual suspects plus one or two others from an internet search). I'm looking at pricing either a 50/100 or 100/100 line but apparantly 100/1000 lines are getting more affordable now. Could be worth considering for future proofing. I'm also concerned about upload speeds. We're using more and more cload services and uploading data to them and we host one or two internal services, so I'm unsure whether a standard ADSL line would be suitable for a backup if the main line went down? I'm going to be looking at prices for SDSL and ELM (Ethernet Last Mile) lines for the backup connection. I'm hoping by using our Smoothwall box I can load balance between the two lines and get the most value out of them.
  6. .....and the Linux Desktop
  7. I thought the first part: dsadd user "cn=%1,cn=Users,dc=Room45,dc=local" should have placed them in the users container.
  8. It runs as a service on the SIMS database server and automatically extracts data at scheduled times.
  9. Oh, that's easy - day 1! It's needed to play Watch_Dogs
  10. The other thing to bear in mind is that this is the wrong time of year to be doing this. Something we struggle with as an Academy. Most primaries will be doing their budgeting in Feb/Mar ready for a new financial year in April, so talk to them after Christmas. As an Academy our financial year starts in September, so we're inevitably talking to them now about something they are not really interested in till after Christmas.
  11. November. I think it's due to be a launch title for both next gen systems (also available for all current gen systems - inc Wii U )
  12. I'd say, first and foremost, make sure you have the manpower and enthusiasm to do this. It's a lot of extra work to take on. We ended up employing a senior technicians whose primary role is managing the relationship between us and the schools we support! He has just spent the whole of this term writing a new contract and working out a new payment structure that fairly charges for a good quality service. We've also rewritten the contract to try and be certain that all parties know exact what they are siging up to and whatis expected of them. What work they can expect to be carried out during a regular visit, what additional work we can do, what work we can't do , etc. As for charging, far, far too complex! We have a standing fee that all schools pay which covers the basic costs of running the service and then each school is charged using a multiplier on the number of computers they have. These figures are based on the senior technicians annual salary and divided up based on how much time we expect him to spend out at each school, then split of into standing fee and finally working out the multiplier based on the total number of computers supported in the cluster. We were keen to come out with a competitive price that charged each school fairly and from which we do not make a profit, so we don't charge them for time the technician is here at the high school doing work for us, for instance. I can't really go into too much detail, and unfortunately I don't think it's a document we can readily share. I think I can say that we charge between £1000 and £2000 per year for most of our schools, getting a fortnightly visit during term time.
  13. Definately the best in the series (ok, maybe Brotherhood). Any XBL'er's who haven't played this yet should defo download a copy while it's going cheap! It's good to hear the AC:IV is rumored to be returning to AC2 gameplay mechanics, looking forward to it!
  14. Containers/OU - same difference. I think @Ephelyon is right; -memberof should be referencing a group not a container/ou.
  15. EDIT: deleted as info was wrong My bad. But, is your domain called "Room45.local"?
  16. Checking my marksheet it seems I do it this way... KS2 English test result + 13 = KS4 English target (3 levels progress) KS2 Maths test result + 13 = KS4 Maths target (3 levels progress) Average(KS4 English target, KS4 Maths target) = Average 3LP target (for all other subjects) EDIT: we use SIMS to convert the KS2 grades to point scores, do the maths, then convert back to GCSE grades.

    Steam Summer Sale

I remember escaping from the prision and then racing across the island with more cops on my tail than employed by the entire metropolitan police. I ran off into the forest and proceeded to get totally lost finding my way back to home base. That's where I left it as far as I remember. Like you, if JC2's is a good as everyone says it is, I've just got to play through JC1 one first.

    Steam Summer Sale

Don't say that! It's on my "to be played when I've completed 100 other games first" list. Got JC2 free on PS+ a little while back and have been meaning to give JC1 a go on the XBox first. I admit, I did play it a bit and wasn't immediately taken by it - done the first prison break mission. Got to get through True Crimes first so I can play Sleeping Dogs. Played the first one but the second is on halt while I complete The Last of Us. There's just not enough time for all this!!!
  19. Excellent! Looks like someon's parting gift. "ground too wet for the Internet to flow through" - classic, I'll be using that myself in future.
  20. We had this problem just before half term. Capita gave us a patch that fixed it. The problem did come back, but when I re-applied the patch it went away again. Worth contacting them for some answers.

    STRIKE!

The BBC news story this morning about the gov changin their minds on plain cigerate packets made me laugh: "We don't want to rush any decisions that can have such a long term impact" Clearly one memo Michael Gove has never recieved!

    STRIKE!

Never mind. It's only another 20months or so then we can vote him back in for another 5 years. Privitisation....
  24. Having just got one to replace a broke Terastation - I'll second that! QNAP.
  25. I swear I've got multiple personality disorder, I'm sure each of those should get a count! All 5 of them, especially Frank - he can be counted twice on account of his weight
