Is SCCM advertising a boot image to this machine? Have you tested on another machine of the same make/model and different make/model? If the machine is in the right collection in SCCM and that collection is advertising a valid boot image, have you double checked that machines MAC address registered in SCCM? Also what GUID is PXE boot reporting from BIOS? Is it unique?

Storage Spaces will software RAID them. Add them to a pool and create a parity drive across them. If you are running 2012R2, with that many drives, I'll look at dual redundancy so 2 drives can fail without loss of data.

How are you creating your images, what system are you using? The usual method is to build one machine, install all software and updates needed in the final build, sysprep and image. Of course, with Patch Tuesday, you're fighting a losing battle keeping any image 100% up to date without using a WSUS server or SCCM.

Roy and Moss show Jen where the Elders of the Internet keep the black box. -
10 port USB hub, Windows 2012, Storage Spaces. Could use it for Volume Shadow Copy, ISO repository, Driver repository, etc. Although that's little around 4Tb space formatted so could keep you going for a fair while.

Yep, just couldn't see what the difference is. Looks like Googles Android on the TV box uses an Intel Atom, Amazons Android on the TV box uses ARM. We'll there you have it, that'll get the punters in More seriously. They seem to be missing the mark. I'd happily pay £50-£100 more to have the game controller included, a better GPU, little more RAM, and little more storage. Doesn't need to be much - we're not talking PS4 competition here, but enough to shake up the gaming market a bit. As it is a PS3 costs about the same and does more. At sub-£100 Rocku and Apple have the market pretty much sown up. Playstation TV is coming in at that price point and potentially offers more interesting functionality. The Ouya falled flat in that market. I wonder what Amazon and Google are thinking with these devices. Hell, it's getting increasingly harder to not buy a Smart TV new. Perhaps they'd do better teaming up with a Telly maker...

Don't Amazon already sell this?

Hi, I'm getting a bit of a headache trying to work out the best setup for our network storage system and what to purchase to add some redundancy. I wonder if you guys had some thoughts or ideas I haven't explored yet... Current Set Up 3x Hyper-V Host Servers connected to a 4.5Tb Storage Server using 16x450Gb SAS drives (RAID-50, hot spares, etc). The storage is currently provided using SMBv2 shares on Server 2008R2. Proposed Set Up I'm thinking of a second 16-bay server. Increase the capacity of both old and new severs to around 8Tb each using a mixture of either 900Gb or 600Gb SAS and some of the existing 450Gb SAS drives. Looking to move to Server 2012R2 Standard (the Hyper-V hosts are running Server 2012 Data Center). Thinking of using iSCSI instead of SMB shares. Thinking of Windows Storage Pools instead of hardware RAID. Not sure how Cluster Shared Volumes fits into all of this. The Headache How do I best make use of the old server? I don't want to decommission it. I'd like some level of failover redundancy, currently everything hangs off the old storage server. Ideally I'd like to replicate data between the two storage servers. Can't see the wood for the trees, what would be the best way of doing this - if at all possible? We have thought of using SMBv3 instead of iSCSI and DFRS. That will work for our shared user folders, but Hyper-V can't use a DFRS share to store VHD images. Any advice or pointers greatly appreciated.

It'd surprise me if SSD would make a huge difference with the VM's, other than booting you shouldn't be hammering disk access hard enough. But of course, if you're not maxing out either CPU or RAM has is, then trying an SSD can't hurt. I'd suspect it's a case of Exchange being a resource hog. Out of curiosity, I'm pretty sure the X4 has hardware virtialisation support, have you ticked the 'use VRTx' checkbox in the VM settings, this can make a huge speed difference.

Unless you're running out of space HDD isn't going to give you much. Sure SSD would improve boot time and initial program loads, but I suspect bottlenecks will be elsewhere. If you're playing with VM's then I'd expect upping the RAM to 16Gb would be more beneficial. What does Task Manager say about your CPU/RAM usage when you have a couple of VM's open?

For Gamers ... Best Game out or coming soon for PS4?
tmcd35 replied to connor_ict's topic in General Chat
Not sure about release dates, but this is the current list I'm interested in: Assassins Creed Unity The Crew Hasbro Game Channel (big RISK fan) Batman Arkham Knight Rime Inside No Mans Sky Grim Fandango Final Fantasy XV Wild Gone off the idea of Shadows of Modor for some reason, possibly the same with The Division - looked interesting but probably pass. Hoping for a Red Dead Redemption sequel and new Hitman game to be announced soon... Mad Max is the only other up and coming game that has me wanting to learn more. All in all, 2015 should be a good year on PS4! -
