Is there not a little lightening bolt inside the battery indicator on the top right?

I have a new 6a, used several different cables and charging bricks, all see OK. The only thing I would point out is that the 6a USB C port seems to be little further inside the chassis compared to my previous phones, so I have to push the connector in that little bit further. its probably only the case of a few mm but it caught me out a few times at first, i have one of those full body cases so thats probably half the reason though.

I don't have any tools at the moment, our phones are entirely unmanaged apart from the staff using there business email account (Google Account via ADFS) to sign into the Play Store and Google App on the phones.

In a few months I will be refreshing our business mobile phones. I want to take the opportunity to enrol them all in to a management solution, but I am not sure what the best option is for us. We have about 150 phones, 99% Android. The two solutions that I have available are Google Workspace or Office 365 (Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty). I want to be able to get visibility of who has what device, what OS version they are running and potentially push apps out to the devices (they are all company owned). Can anyone suggest one provider over another? Thanks

Our admin team have for years now been creating Teams meetings in the calendars of some of there managers via Outlook by accessing there shared calendar. This is done by creating a calendar entry and then choosing to make it a Teams Meeting by using the following button which puts in a link into the meeting detail; However this week, this feature has stopped working, the button doesnt do anything. This works as expected for the local users calendar, but not for the person that they are opening the calendar of. Up until this was reported this week, it used to be identical functionality on both shared and local calendars. Anyone else having\had a similar issue? Win 10 21H2 Outlook 2019 MSO V16.0.10394.20022 Teams 1.6.00.6754 (64-bit) Office 365 A3 for all staff involved

Another +1 for OSTicket, works well, free version has good community support and has all the features we need.

Fitted myself, just isolate the power and hopefully you can isolate water, or turn off your mains. https://www.screwfix.com/p/triton-t80-easi-fit-white-chrome-8-5kw-electric-shower/3570t Benefit of it being a shower, if a bit of water does escape because you havent properly drained it, you are already in the shower so its not a problem :-)

Network monitoring tools for TV in office
mbedford replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
Personally I shy away from this kind of 'dashboard' approach. I have visited numerous IT support teams over the years and the one's that have TV's all over the office showing dashboard full of graphs and traffic lights or alerts tend to fall into the following trap. "Treating the number, not the problem" By that I mean, the dashboard might look like everything is great, but out in the real world the staff and other users\customers are having all sorts of bad experiences. Yes monitor the infrastructure, keep an eye on disk space, email queues, print queues etc, but remember the end user experience is the most important metric. If your customers are not able to use the system you are supporting, no amount of 99.999% uptime graphs are going to help them. In my environment, we have an email go out to our second\third line team every 20 mins, in the background, a process has remotely checked every server for important stats (disk space, CPU use, ping, and other application specific metrics for exchange, SQL etc), if this email shows an issue, we investigate, bu the email is very much a secondary thing. Not something I focus on and I definitely don't wait for the email to tell me there is a problem before I actually start believing the customer. TLDR Monitoring is great, but having it front and centre of your operation is IMO going to paper over some cracks which actually impact the customer more. -
Your symptoms are very similar to what I would expect to be seeing with a network loop or broadcast storm - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switching_loop However, there are protections in place on modern switches and routers to mitigate the effect of this problem, assuming they are turned on in the device configuration (BPDU, Loop Guard etc). It's a time consuming task, but I would physically check that there isn't a switch plugged into itself (or a device port in the classroom\office plugged into another port) creating a loop back to the switch. Given that the LEA have said they cant see anything untoward though, it probably isn't this.

Do this for EVERYONE in the business!! If you are not, id put the apprentice to one side for a bit and get to work on resolving the new big problem you have :-D

Cyber Essentials - Terminal Server
mbedford posted a topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
We offer a terminal server solution (Remote desktop services). Our end users can connect from home using there personal devices. Access is protected via numerous methods (MFA, geo blocking, brute force protection etc) Would these home.devices connecting via RDP fall into scope for CE? -
Hi, I am looking for a solution to monitor bookable hardware. My library team have a selection of bookable devices (cameras, voice recorders, ipads etc). Would like a calendar where we can look at a date and clearly see what is booked and what might be available. Currently my thoughts are an Outlook calendar which contains the bookings, but that doesnt really help with the whats available, just whats out. Any ideas? We use SnipeIT for our IT Assets, but the check in \ check out feature, whilst good, doesnt really help with the overview side of things. I want to be able to easily see that yes, we have this available or not. thanks

Have a look at the $error variable. Its an array so to get the most recent exception, try $error[0].exception sometimes the inner exception message is more useful. $error[0].exception.innerexception

JCQ (Exams) regulations - Session video recording
mbedford replied to mbedford's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Yep, that's the one. Just a 1 minute recording of the interpreter signing an agreed piece of text. IMO that demonstrates accuracy. -
Hi, Has anyone had any experience with this years exam reg's specifically regarding the recording of sessions where a BSL interpreter is required? Our exams team are under the belief that the entire session needs to be video recorded with both the candidate and the BSL interpreter in frame. I had a session today that was almost 3:45hrs long, you can imagine the size of the video file! Looking at the JCQ regulations myself, I can only see the following section which 'may' be relevant. https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/AA_regs_21-22_FINAL.pdf 5.13 - *There is not a requirement to process an application using Access arrangements online or to record the use of the arrangement. No evidence is needed to support the arrangement. 5.13.3 A Communication Professional will work ‘live’ in the presence of the candidate during the examination in order to allow for the candidate’s regional variations in BSL/ISL signs. Consequently, this cannot be checked by the awarding body for accuracy. Great care must be taken not to disadvantage or advantage the candidate. Centres should video the signing of the Communication Professional to demonstrate accuracy 5.13 suggests that we dont need to record the actual use of a sign language interpreter. 5.13.3 suggests that we need only to video the demonstration of accuracy (IMO a short video showing the interpreter is capable, not the entire session) Can anyone else, with experience in this area either validate my reading of this or tell me otherwise? I have multiple simultaneous sessions running on Wednesday, whilst I can make this work, its a hell of a lot of work if we dont really have to do it! Thanks

Hi, as in the title, does anyone have either the SNMP MIB files for this storage appliance, or the Command Suite software which would have them on the install disk? Lastly, a bit more of a stretch.... anyone currently in support with HDS who could log a job with them to provide said files? We went third party on our support after we moved our appliance into the DR solution so cant contact them ourselves. Thanks in advance

OSTicket - Works great for us, we migrated our IT and Dev team of 9 people to use it and about 6 months ago our data team (30+) also moved to it. Works great, as simple or complex as you like. Best of all, if you can self host, its free.

I have used Hitachi (HDS) and HP SAN's in the past. The HP one didn't have as much of a problem and accepted disks of matching spec but not manufacturer. The HDS however, was very, very selective. Disks had to be Hitachi and even had to match a firmware level on the disk. Luckily our third party warranty provider was very patient in sending out the right disks until we found ones that were acceptable and now they have a note on our record to essentially say to the engineer dealing with the case to only send out those disks.

o365 Incorrectly disabling\sign in blocking an account - repeatedly
mbedford replied to mbedford's topic in Cloud Services
My initial thoughts were similar. but in the Azure audit log is saying the disable event was initiated by my Azure AD Connect client (DirSync) The on prem account in active directory is working fine, no bad password attempts and can log in to everywhere they should be able to.
