    I have implemented DFS-R in Windows 2003R2 in a production environments and tested it on in a test lab with Windows 2008 and 2008R2. It works very well even with large amounts of data. I had 1TB of data replicating between Sydney and London over a 2Mbit link. Started with a small amount of data and increased over time to allow the system to keep up. Completely seamless to the end user and very efficient data compression. All in all I'd say it is an excellent solution, but make sure you read the implementation guide on Technet before starting.

    One thing to take into account is VPN routing. e.g if you have a 192.168.10.0/24 you won't be able to VPN to another network with the same subnet. This can be an issue for remote users using VPN's.

    Two ways to do this. You can create get an external email address (in NZ we get this from the phone company e.g. Vodafone). In Active Directory setup a contact and forward email to it. For full functionality e.g. calendaring etc you need a Blackberry Enterprise Server. Only firewall change required is port 3101 outbound. You get one free license with the Blackberry phone normally but need to purchase client access licenses for additional phones.

    Are both servers attached to the same switch? If they are try using different ports and swapping network cables. If you the servers are on different switches then I would test connecting the servers to the same switch to eliminate any inter-switch communication issues. Getting late here, but the key to this problem is to get the pings working in both directions. Once you get the network issue sorted, BackupExec should work fine. Hope that helps.

    Sounds like a network issue. Try copying a file between the two servers, if the speed is slow then check your switches and cables. Perhaps you have a switch port with a lot of collisions or crc errors. try this from the backupexec server: ping macserveripaddress -t -l 2000 do you get packet loss?

    I agree, I've done a lot of BackupExec installs and this is normally a driver issue. In the Tools menu you can install Symantec Drivers for your tape device. Don't forget to reboot
