Is it possible to create a policy that applies a simple date cut off to Inbox/Sent Items, but leaves things in folders alone? And if so, does this need A5/E5 licenses?

A user of ours is trying to build a PowerApps app, and has brought the question up of what to do if they leave? The PowerApp itself can have its ownership changed via Powershell, which is fine, but the Excel file which holds the data would be on their OneDrive. From my understanding, you can't migrate a file to a new location easily, as it clears the app out and makes you effectively start again when you link to the new source. You can also not access an Excel spreadsheet stored in Teams. The other option is to generate a Sharepoint List from the excel spreadsheet, but when we try this it ignores any row that has any blank cells (which is not ideal). So, how do we ensure such an app can live on after someone leaves? Is it as clumsy as creating a dedicated account for apps to be created/stored in, and then give co-owner roles to the people that run them? Storing the Excel file in that account's OneDrive?

Education store is being killed off in early 2023, with a replacement on its way but no date. Plus it doesn't work in Windows 11 at all, which we will be moving to at some point. But on my original issue. I tried someone else's PS script for detection. That didn't work, so swapped back to my simple file version detection and tried again and it now works. Identical detection rule. Gotta love Config Manager sometimes!!

Has anyone been able to get Python 3.10.x to install via SCCM/MECM/Config Manager? Earlier versions (3.4, 3.8) install perfectly fine, with detection method just looking at the python.exe file version. 3.10? No such luck. The install command I've got is: "python-3.10.7-amd64.exe" /quiet InstallAllUsers=1 PrependPath=1 Which should do what I want? Then the detection rule is looking for the python.exe file in c:\program files\python310, for the version matching what it should be. No such luck. It installs it, but thinks it has failed for some reason!

New KCSIE recommendation: Social Media checks on candidates
localzuk replied to RLR's topic in How do you do....it?
Yes, this is the case. For example, you have to log in to Facebook with a real person's account, and from that you can access a business page. LinkedIn is the same. The same questions came up where I work, and in the end we've referred it to the solicitors and our DPO to advise. Its such a can of worms, you've gotta get it right. The person doing the checks should not be involved in the recruitment process itself either - as those checks are supposed to be for a pretty narrow set of purposes, and you don't want the recruitment team being influenced by something non-relevant. -

Well, everyone's in for INSET on Thursday, and today I've been told about 13 new members of staff starting Thursday. Multiple needing laptops... That's on top of all the ones I knew about already. So... going about as normal then!

We bought into a third party solution - Barracuda Office 365 Backup. Easy to set up and it works well.

This can't be right... Their status page still claims that there's been 100% uptime for the last 90 days. Even though it is littered with incidents of downtime. We've had 2 days this week so far where it became basically unusable during the school day due to "performance issues". They don't consider that to be downtime either.

Server updated to pack 1.8.0

The ones in upgrade-config may not be necessary, I was just being thorough.

OK, so updated to 4.7.18 and the original commands don't quite work now. Changes below: I have PKI set up. So, I exported the CA's root cert (in my example below it is cs2cer.cer, and our CS server is cent-cs-01), and imported that into the java keystore using: "c:\Program Files\Google Cloud Directory Sync\jre\bin\keytool.exe" -keystore cacerts -import -file c:\cs2cert.cer -alias cent-cs-01 The default keystore password is changeit Then I edited the 3 files below: config-manager.vmoptions sync-cmd.vmoptions upgrade-config.vmoptions from c:\program files\google cloud directory sync to add 2 lines: -Dcom.sun.net.ssl.checkRevocation=false -Dcom.sun.security.enableCRLDP=false Then re-ran a sync, and everything worked again.

DfE Connecting the Classroom project funding
localzuk replied to password1234's topic in Wireless Networks
That's unrealistic with public sector, due to the way governments change every 5 years. We can at most plan 5 years in advance, and even that is "pencilled in", as govt policy changes year to year. So, if funding is provided for something now, we should take it and figure out the replacement when that time comes. Put it this way, I update my 5 year plan yearly... -
DfE Connecting the Classroom project funding
localzuk replied to password1234's topic in Wireless Networks
Sent in my NAFs 2 weeks ago, awaiting confirmation that all our schools will be covered. We appear to fit their criteria for needing replacement kit, and are in a priority area. We've got about 80 APs across 6 schools, connecting to 30+ switches. No Cat6A cabling anywhere. Most of our existing kit is out of warranty. Suspect this won't be a cheap job for the DfE! -

Data Protection obligations apply to more than just saving data. It applies to processing data. So, if someone puts any personal data in a request and sends it via this system, the data is traversing both Discord's servers and the bot's servers. So, you'd need to be able to justify this. As Discord is based in the USA, you would need to be sure your data processing isn't breaking GDPR which currently has major issues with transferring data to the USA (see Italy just fining a company for using Google Analytics because it is USA based)... Have you considered using MS Teams instead? That would be much more likely to be compliant, and comes with proper tools for managing it. You can also write bots etc for it.
