Yes, I've been testing with redirecting the start menu. Been able to get this working together with the layout that uses the alluserprofile referencing. It just breaks when you then add the group policy to remove common program groups...

Hi all, Been battling trying to get the start menu layout working (I have read many of you who have battled this in the past!). Just about got this working now but I have run in to an issue where I now want to enable the "Remove common program groups from Start Menu" in GPO to simplify it for it users. This then breaks the layout as shortcuts are based in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%. I have tried moving shortcuts on to a network share and then reference that in the layout XML, but alas no go It would seem perhaps that you have to use the %APPDATA% and %ALLUSERSPROFILE% in the XML.... Is anyone able to confirm? Is there anyone who has managed to reference a shortcut that is stored on a network share instead?

Don't know whether this is relevant, but we have been battling with some individuals at our LEA. They use O365 whilst we use Egress Switch. From speaking with several of the individuals who have said they 'can't open them' it turns out there is no technical issue at all. Seems some have no problem opening them whilst others don't want to. When they send encrypted emails out they expect their recipients to enter a one time passcode or login to access, yet they seem to have an issue with reciprocating with our chosen encryption system. Appears to be the usual LEA mantra of their way or the highway... Just thought I would mention in case there is not a technical reason why they cant access and use the system...

Very helpful at the sales stage and advice for solutions is reasonably good. Very good pricing and value for money. However, I have unfortunately experienced several issues with their aftercare support through warranty. Some repairs have been poor and there have been issues with turnaround times. Because of this it does make me re-consider making future purchases with them....

Very simple here now.... 1x Network Manager (me) and 1x Technician just supporting the one high school of around 700 students. My technician is expected to cover the majority of the day to day reactive support. Me - everything else beyond that.

I've never done it with a DC and would be wary about doing so personally. I believe they can become pretty grumpy with a time difference...

I'm assuming you are referring to snapshots? I definitely make a snapshot before I make changes so that I have something to roll back to should things go wrong. I've never personally experienced a problem during the merging stage... its always been successful on the multiple times I've done it.

Does anyone happen to have the manual for AUP Informant 2 ?! I'm trying to get this software working on Server 2012 R2 to serve Windows 7 clients. I have gotten so far as getting the server working, and in the logs it shows clients connecting. Unfortunately nothing is happening on the clients and no AUP is shown If anyone happens to have a copy of the manual I would be very grateful if you could send me it! Just in case I'm missing something here...

I think I have managed to do this by holding ctrl or alt or shift (sorry I cant remember which) and then right clicking on the iPad you want to remove and there was an option that appeared in the menu. I was also using a PC keyboard, so afraid I dont know what the equivalent would be if you are using a Mac keyboard...

If you have a smartphone and healthy amount of storage, you could use an app to do it. I use one called Caroo on my Android phone which works pretty well.

Thanks guys. I think having to use a USB key to get their laptop booted is going to cause more issues for us than it's worth! Had a teacher the other day that didn't know what a USB key was lol. I didn't think it was possible not to, but there you go.

I've recently enabled BitLocker on some of our staff laptops. I thought this could only be enabled on machines that have TPM? I attempted enabling it on non-TPM laptops, and didn't get anywhere with it. What I found during going through the BitLocker setup wizard is that it creates the necessary partioning and information required. We're not currently implementing storing the recovery information in AD, so I simply stored the recovery key to a file on a protected network share. I'd be interested to know if you get anywhere enabling without the need for TPM We have added ours to the domain so they do get a policy. It was necessary for us to allow control over turning proxy settings on/off (the default for our workstations is that settings are locked) and adding a logon information box after the ctrl + alt + del screen to inform them of how to logon locally.
