Old hat. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/gaming/120623-payday-2-a.html Oooo, the release date has been brought forward! it was originally meant to be out on the 7th, then got pushed to the 27th! Just checked steam and it's now out on the 13th!

    War Thunder

That escalated fast!!! Yesterday you were posting about how awesome it is, today your quitting!!!!

    War Thunder

I will vouch for the awesomeness of this game. It truly is awesome!
  4. Look out! Windows 7 with no printers or faxes installed!
  5. Check C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net and if there is no connect.ini file, create a new text file and call it connect.ini. Open it and add the following if you usually redirect to a master conenct.ini: [sIMSConnection] Redirect=S:\SIMS Or if you usually point SIMS directly at the server: [sIMSConnection] ServerName=\ DatabaseName=sims CommandTimeout=1000000
  6. Improved version? Very debatable really in it's current state! Some people like it and find it OK, lots of people hate it and have endless issues. It's the next variant of SOLUS3 but a lot more complicated compared to SOLUS2. You install it on your server and it consists of a DB, Service and UI. You then configure your "environment" with details like where your SIMS DB is, SA password, BINN folder location, FMS DB etc. You also add every single devices in school to the environment into 'channels'' based on what they have installed (SIMS .net/FMS/Discover). SOLUS3 puts an agent on all of the devices you add, and when you get an upgrade, it "pushes" the files out to all the devices when they are online, rather than SOLUS2's method of "pulling" the installers form the setups folder when SIMS is ran.
  7. You tired making the Connect.ini manually?
  8. I've had this too, usually when UAC is enabled. If you want SOLUS3 (if your not aware of it, search Edugeek for threads on it and be wary!), contact you LA if you get support direct from them. They may have a plan to implement it in all supported schools, or may hand out installers and install guides on request.
  9. Yep, I had to pick up a few of these calls before summer started where schools were still on the Spring release. I have a Summer Win 7 VM I'll be playing with in a bit. I'll test it there too and feedback...
  10. Yea, same for me yesterday. Zero Hour tweeted "It seems like Galera has been having a few wobbles, looking into why."
  11. Slightly OT, where can I buy that box of them from?!?!?! //Drool//
  12. The password won't be blank, it would have been set when the SQL instance was installed if mixed mode authentication was enabled. How are your databases being backed up? Any scripts that may contain the SA password in them? I think you also need to specify a SQL instance to connect to. ie localhost\sims2008.
  13. I was shocked when I saw this, but can't decide if it's Capita actually fixing something, or Windows 8 handling printers better! I'm finishing up of a "FMS Installation & FAQ Guide for Windows 8" and was trying to generate a error of the classic "Runtime Error 217" by removing all the printers on my Windows 8 test system. I proceeded to run FMS and it loaded and let me log in!!! If I go to File | Print Settings in FMS, it pops up a sensible message saying "There is no default printer currently selected". Anyone else come across this? Is it a Capita fix in the new Summer release, or is Windows 8 a lot better for printer management?
  14. BBC News - World's first lab-grown burger is eaten in London I could have sworn I read a while back that Heston Blumenthal was going to be cooking it. What do people think of this? Long term aim is to cut down greenhouse gasses created by live stock. Also, it could be classed as ethically acceptable by vegetarians as it does not require the slaughtering of cows to produce. I guess the taste is key here. Does it taste like a proper beef burger? Would you eat a burger that had been grown in a lab?
  15. Installed it on a test here and it works fine, no issues at all. How did you install SIMS? With a setups folder or with SOLUS3?
  16. Not seen that in SOLUS3 before. Looks like a call to Capita is required...
  17. This happens sometimes when you detach the database before transfering the logins from the master table. It's best practice to force a transfer of the logins form the master database into the SIMS/FMS databases before detaching them and copying them to the new server. you can do this by running these commands via SSMS against the SIMS and FMS databases: SIMS: exec sims.sims.db_p_transfer_login FMS: exec ccsfms.sims.db_p_transfer_login
  18. This has been covered a few times on here. Worth reading this thread through. Wile it starts with covering XP support, it does include details on moving SIMS to a new server. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/117751-sims-end-support-xp-2003-a-5.html
  19. Panic over. The on-site tech has been trying every password he could remember and got lucky! Thanks for the help anyway.
  20. We've been asked by one of our supported schools to migrate all of their SIMS data to their new server today. The new server they have in place is a virtualised 2008 R2 server. The school NM built it and put it on the domain but wanted to rename the old server and change the IP address, and then give the new new virtual server the same name and IP as the old server to make migrating SOLUS3 a lot easier. The old SIMS server has now been taken off the domain to be renamed to OLD-SERVER but it's come to light that no one knows the local Admin password to the server. This means that no one can log onto the server to rename it, and we can't access it to transfer all of the SIMS data for them! Is there any way that anyone knows of to either somehow access the server, reset the passwordetc?
  21. Ignore the above post. Posted it yesterday via the App but it showed none of the previous posts since after the announcement!
  22. Looks like the BBC gave Capaldi Doctor Who! in world war Z, he played "W.H.O Doctor". Coincedence?
  23. Completely off topic: Epic sig!
  24. I'm not even sure how they could tell if you've left the place of work!
  25. This seems like a very cool idea! Tile Tiny tiles you attach to your valuables. You can then use the app to track exactly where they are.
