Are ESS trying to make it harder to migrate away from to SIMS?
nicholab replied to Ditto's topic in MIS Systems
It annoys me that the management team will not come on to here and explain why they think it is reasonable to stop a process that has been used for years? Why they there not prepped to put skin in the game. Original SIMs was a tool created by someone to solve a problem it seems the current management team has gone away from this Idea. -

How can stopping someone from changing to another product be legal? I hate that we have a difference form what is morally right an what is legal. -

Why are they not standing up for what is right? Why are the director of this company a disgrace to business? -

I still don’t know why schools were worried surely any court would find in favour of the school as it technically stealing their data. -
Recommended Firewalls
nicholab replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I would never get a Sophos firewall ever again the configuration is a pain. The log viewing is slow and poor on the firewall. I used PaloAlto watch guard and PFsenese all of those have better user interface for working out what your doing. -
HP technical was useless and would not send me the software. I am not sure how you get one to be reasonable and bend the rules and send it to you. All the HPE support technical all seem jobs worth prepared to do the right thing and help customers by telling the CEO to buck his ideas up or providing you with the firmware. HP seems very poorly setup as the technician said that they were not allowed to speak directly to the CEO. There are different team who design and implement these policies and we don't have the authority to speak on this directly to CEO, however what best we can do it take your feedback and share with the concerned team, alternately you can write email to customer recover team and involve you accounts manager if required. Because as per policy the server should have active warranty/contract to download the firmware's.

I am trying to work out how I e-mail the top people to complain https://www.hpe.com/uk/en/leadership.html

Who is the CEO of HP and how do you complain to get them unlocked? Why the manage at this companies such so numpty and still in a job?
-

This seems scandalous that these people are allowed to keep wasting money for poor outcomes. Especially when everything we buy goes continuously examined for best value. It also show no trust in IT personnel that they will not let them make the decision. It some what like the defence budget having to keep nuclear weapons but the head of the military can’t get rid of them! -

I don’t know why some SLT are so addicted to SIMS and are unable to do a serious comparison of MIS choose with pro and cons. I worked at school in the West Midlands and that head force through SIMS when we were on Bromcom he did not allow IT to do a proper review of the options. I find it infuriating when so many of us have to jump through a process for so many things the biggest line item does not have this proper discussion making round it. -

I am discussed by the management of this company and the CMA. They all a disgrace they are in effect stealing public money by not letting schools leave easily. -
There a video of a shower happening and demand keeping up.

You don’t need to large hot water tanks if you can recharge it quick enough. If you look at heat geeks unvented cylinders it will do the trick from a small size https://newarkcylinders.co.uk/heatgeekministore/. Never get rid of your hot water cylinder today in an any heating renovation they will be important when more houses move to heat pumps.

OneDrive/SharePoint drive mapper - which one?
nicholab replied to mdrabble's topic in Cloud Services
I am not sure what the right answer is here the officially supported Microsoft way is synchronising the folder to your machine. This seems to be bad news and destined to end in disaster. This is the proper way to do it why are so many people doing it differently? -
I'm not too fond of Sophos AV DLP it does not seem to provide enough inside to be worth using it as an AV. Are all DLP systems so limited that you can only detect data flowing into the following: E-mail clients Internet browsers Internet browser's external processes Voice over IP client Storage I have a web application that data goes to and from this triggers the DLP alert. Is this the only way of dealing with it or are there other DLP solutions that would work I would like to use MS Endpoint DLP but that is another £10K.

Is anyone else using the Novoo USB C Docking Station Quad Display, 14-in-1 Laptop Docking Station Dual Monitor?
-
Stone repair Lenovo's at one point. I would also ideally choose a model that the back panel can be removed on we have Dell Latitude 3540. The Dell can be upgraded to 32 GB of RAM in the future. I would get a Lenovo, Dell and HP option if it a big order you can often get one on trial.

Embedded Slot Smart Array P440ar how do I enable the cache for a drive after the array has been built?
-
Yes Minster and Dr Martin
-
Can you suggest DLP software that is cloud-based? The option for using MS endpoint does not seem to be easily licensed.
