Dave I have come across a problem on my home pc where if an sata lead is not properly seated in the drive it creates the same problem of what your having now. Also, just a random question, what power supply are you using in terms of watts. Just wondered if you had any over devices running.

have you tried a completely diffrent drive altogeather.?

So its not a problem with the drive or the sata cable connection. have you tried formating the drive and then installing it into your server?

This is what i have done here. They soon learn when they bring the laptop to me in a sorry state. I simply dont have time to fanny around trying to rescure the work, there for i just re image them. It eventually sinks in

I stay clear of registry cleaners, I have a ghost image of my machine, with personal data on a seperate drive. If i do install a new bit of software and it has worked fine for a good month then i will make a new ghost image of the system, keeping both the standard image setup and the new ghost image. that way if any thing does fowl up i can just restore it all back again. thare are sites i think that have been mentioned in the past on here that have tutorials on how to do your self. Infact i have a pdf document "cleaning windows registory for dummies" Im gonna have a flick through that some point 'when i have time' as it is always usefull to know

The number one rule is to always have a backup before you make any updates or changes.At least then you can go ahead and make the updates and know that if it nacks up you can revert back to the backup. I always read what the update is for before i go ahead with applying it.

We have a duty tutor, if a pupil has got to the stage where a duty tutor is called then a teacher will phone the admin office to tell them they need the duty teacher to so.. soo lesson in what ever department. the duty tutor has a mobile phone on them and is called from the admin office to pick up twit and/or twat. t and/or t are then marched to remove. works very well here.
