  1. Right what I'm looking for are some headphones without a microphone, are robust (primary school kids robust) but not too expensive. The last lot we bought were £3.99 from dabs but didn't last five minutes. Anyone have any suggestions? Cheers, Dan

    VPN setup

Possibly not the solution you are looking far, but instead of asking the member of staff to type in the path could you not create a shortcut that links to the correct file path? Hope this helps, Dan
  3. Hi I'm looking for a quote for 5 X replacement lamps for the Sanyo PLC-XE40 I think its LMP90 but not sure. Thanks, Dan
  4. Sorted. I decided the only way was the long way, so I copied everything out of the users home folder, tried Activprimary, this worked. So I started to copy things back in a few files/folders at a time and tried Activprimary each time. It turned out that there was a file (no extension) with the name '1' in the top level of the home folder that was the problem. I have now deleted this file and all is working fine. Thanks all for your help and advice, Dan
  5. More info. I have just created a new user for testing, set its home folder to the same as y1 and got the same error, set the home folder to a new one and Activprimary worked fine. It has to be something inside the Y1 home folder, but having deleted the activprimary 3 folder I have no idea as to what. Thanks, Dan
  6. Just been and tried that, still get same error when user is in administrators group and away from GPOs and when moved back. I don't think it will be the GPO or permissions as other users with same permissions and GPO work fine. Thanks, Dan.
  7. Yes the folder is created into there network home folder which is also what my documents is mapped to.
  8. Right, hopefully some one can help me with this as I've tried everything I can think of. Each time the y1 user tries to open Activprimary 3 they get Run-time error '9' - Subscript out of range All other user account it works fine with, so I decided it can't be the application and it must be with the Y1 user account. So I deleted all settings files I could find relating to Activprimary within the Y1 home folder and profile and still get the same error. I have tried the promethean KB and found something similar that related to Activprimary 2 but tried it anyway still no luck. The only thing left I can think to do is copy all the work out of the Y1 home folder and re-create the user and copy all the work back, obviously I don't really want to do this. This happens on all machines in the school, all are running windows XP with latest version of Activprimary 3 in a Server 2003 domain. Has anyone got any suggestions. Thanks, Dan
  9. It's boot camped, and also the other suggestion did not work either
  10. Thanks for your reply, unfortunatly it isn't that simple I've already checked parental controlls. Cheers, Dan
  11. If you change it under print settings then yes, but if you use print defaults then it should (he says) be the same on the clients.
  12. First off check to see if there is a mono print driver for that model, if not, on the server or machine where the printer is shared go to the printers properties and go to printing defults and see if there is an option in there to set to mono. Hope this helps, Dan

    Logon Problems

Hi all, I'm currently having a problem with two macbooks. Simply standard users can not logon, if I change the user to admin they can log on fine. I've checked permissions on users folders and files required for logon and all seem ok. Now I'm stuck for ideas. The user can log onto the console so username and password are correct. Anyone help? Cheers, Dan (ACTC)
  14. Wasn't sure if to post this here, but the problem seems to be related only to a few macs in school, so maybe a hardware/driver issue? The problem is, sound is not been played through the headphone jack (which we have speakers connected to) instead it just plays through the internal speakers, even with a jack plugged in. This only occurs when booted up into windows, the sound works fine on the mac side. So far I have tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the driver and different speakers/headphones. Has anyone else had this problem? or maybe have a solution? Cheers, Dan

  16. Fish tank idea is cool, if you got the time.
  17. Again, I've seen this on many laptops, Its when the graphics card isn't powerfull enough to display video to both the laptop and external display. If fn + f5/f7 or what ever the key for that laptop is doesn't work, could you possibly change which is the main screen? Is that even possible? Hope this helps.
  18. Never mind, Figured it out with simple CSS #twitter_update_list a { display: none; }

    printing

You could try Software for print quota and print control management. Your print accounting and monitoring solution - PaperCut It does cost but looks good. If you limited on cost you can use the free version to monitor printing. Hope this helps, Dan
  22. Thanks, It's not that much of a deal, just the background image is rather sketchy if not on 32bit colour. I'll give qres ago, I use it in other schools to set the resolution. Thanks, Dan
