  1. do you think this would work first of all setup outlook on a machine how i think best for the users copy this appdata into say the users home folder possibly when they log on copy the appdata to c:\users\username\blah blahh and then a log off script that copys the data from the c: drive back to the home area this should keep any changes they have made to the way outlook looks what do you think i am a bit reluctant to redirect app data currently as things are working quite well with the windows 7 deployment
  2. is it possible to redirect just the data for outlook to say the users home directory so it follws them round
  3. Current system is Mandatory profile for users and they currently use a edited prf loaded from a shared location obviously the prf is read only so they cant change it. I want my users to be able to make changes to how outlook looks like view and colours etc how can i acheive this. are setting like the position of views icons etc stored in the prf file or somewhere else as i could point the edited prf to the users home directory and alow changes but its the other information i dont know where it is stored. any ideas?
  4. still cant find this does not work only way i can get owa to work is by having a link with server/exchange/username this is getting me really brassed off now
  5. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/95896-windows-7-librarys-set-network-drive-possible-via-tool-needs-adding-wiki.html
  6. tool has a nice front end and has a backup facility etc. very well written no need to edit anything just point click away you go

  11. After searching the form I found a post relating to this free tool Zorn Software » Downloads - Simplicity is the Essence of Good Design it allows you to set your library's to unindexed drives/folders without any fuss it is possible to do this via command line but a nice gui is always best for the less advanced users the only reason i have posted this is because it is not in the wiki and i think it should be (unless you guys know any different we use a mandatory profile for our users and the library part of windows 7 can be confusing (see all my help me posts regarding this) this program let me set the library's to the users network drives music pictures documents etc it also allows you to add others, im sure others would love this tool. rep goes to themightymrp for the original post "I have been doing a lot of experimenting with trying to get the Libraries feature working correctly this week and have finally managed it! First off, find and download a program called Windows 7 Library Tool (its free). Then, using a test system, navigate to "C:\Users\Default User\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries". Shift + Right click to open a command prompt here. Delete the 4 default *.library-ms files (they are XML but renamed). Run the Library tool, create a new library and point it to a general location i.e. \\servername\share\%username% (for My Documents) or H:\ etc. NOTE - this tool allows you to add network locations that ARE NOT indexed This gets around the normal problem of not being able to add network places. Create the necessary libraries as you would like them. I recreated the original 4 but pointed them to sub folders of the users own network share. When done click Apply. This will build the necessary *.library-ms files in the folder mentioned above. Using command prompt (windows explorer will attempt to copy the contents of the library location!), copy the library-ms files onto a central network share i.e. \\servername\netlogon\windows7\libraries Now create a logon script that copies the contents of this share to the %appdata%\microsoft\windows\libraries folder. Thats it Each user on my network using Windows 7 has their libraries redirected onto their own network share. Hope this helps" if you are using mandatory profiles just create your library files and the copy them to your mandatory profile %appdata%\microsoft\windows\libraries folder works a treat. so for all those including me trying to get rid of library's you do not need to now. it makes windows 7 much more like it should be. I hope this post helps out others
  12. I am just setting up our windows 7 teacher workstations and wanted to give them a few extra tools/software that will make life a little easier. eg snipping tool(first time i have used it today its pretty good) was thinking about a screen recorder or anything that you guys put into your builds
  13. gonna make a new profile to see whats going on
  14. i have found out what is going on we use mandatory profiles and within the profile that gets loaded is a username stuck in the registry somewhere so when i log onto owa the exchange box thinks the user is the one stuck in the profile thus never letting anyone access owa except an admin level if i put server\exchange\%username% it works but i have an icon that has that command in just sits there doing nothing but if i type it it works anyone know how to clear out this said username or any ideas on where to look.
  15. think i will re position one of my cctv cameras also the heat is killing my cctv rig in the loft gonna add a few fans

  17. our frog box imports our students for us and any changes to passwords replicate with no issues what version of frog are you using check in your toolkitas frog are known for breaking things with updates. also do you have 2 dcs if so check to see if replication is working we have main dc and a backup dc here and replication is working i have noticed sometimes that the dc a users logs in from changes now and again
  18. i will give it a go on monday as this is just a little issue that is niggaling my windows 7 deployment now along with the stupid librarys which i think i can fix with the library tool i picked up this weekend. thanks for the reply synack
  19. just getting back to this issue group policy checked and windows is passing through authentification (well it is set) results show this. logon as admin i can check mail through owa external link reverse proxy to our box works fine asks for credentials and then pass them through like it should its just when a staff member tries outlook asks for credentials to access the exchange server even if i put the correct details in domain\username it refuses to let anyone access. very fustrating xp is fine
  20. thanks for the tip on the library tool it looks like it will fix my issues with the god awful librarys rep added
