Another option might be to migrate to Google’s cloud Directory Sync (under Directory in Google Admin). It is in Beta but we have it working well after a few initial issues in setup, and have now decommissioned GCDS. It can sync from AzureAD or local AD using a VPN (although haven’t tried the latter).

If you have Sophos Endpoint then you can use Heartbeat instead to authenticate. We had to make this move when migrating from domain joined to Entra joined as WMI ceased to work.

[ipad] Apple School Manager - Paying by credit card not working
browsw replied to Theldron's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
There is/was a known issue with some credit card verification, which Apple confirmed to me on the phone. Our school card required a code be sent by SMS (over a certain amount) and it failed as the OP stated, not getting to the screen where you can request/put in the code. Apple told us to get store credit through our software reseller until they fix the issue. Unsure if it has been fixed yet… -
Sophos XGS filtering and Azure joined devices
browsw replied to browsw's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thank you both for your replies. I’ve disabled STAS and going to see how Heartbeat goes. Fingers crossed OS 20 will not be too long… -
We are just started exploring AzureAD joined devices and have most things working except Sophos filtering. Sophos support haven't been much help and I appreciate it is not officially supported yet (seems a bit slow of Sophos to me...) Staff can login on the AzureAD joined device and get identified correctly and get the correct firewall and staff filtering (I guess because we still have local AD and AzureAD Connect) However after 10 minutes of inactivity the user is logged out of the XGS firewall and receives the default filtering. I guess this is becuase STAS cannot WMI poll the workstation to check the user as it is AzureAD joined. This is verified by using the STAS WMI diagnostic and we get Access Denied. Has anyone had any luck getting AzureAD joined devices to work correctly with Sophos XGS? Maybe @Wave9_Lee might have some ideas? TIA!

I've gone to renew our server licensing on OVS and our supplier is saying they can't process the order because we no longer have an 'enterprise' product on it. The only change we've made is to remove System Centre. Can anyone verify this for me please?! Same here… only quick solution seems to be to uninstall and reinstall drivers. Not ideal for the office users who aren’t local admins.

Looks like you are using GoGuardian (https://www.goguardian.com) for Chromebook management from the logo on the padlock in your screenshot. Your settings in that may be blocking Facebook... -
Hi Toffeeman, We're just moving to iSams and Sage from WCBS too. We are using Solutionsforaccounting who write the code for integration and have done a few schools migrating from WCBS. We needed Sage 200 for 2 tier nominal but I'm sure it wasn't as much as 20k and we have 3 users. They may be able to integrate sage 50, worth giving them a call.

We had a problem where we has a FOPE as part of our volume license agreement as well as FOPE as part of Office365 which caused the automatic migration to EOP to fail. We had to get MS to merge the two FOPE organisations before to EOP upgrade could happen. Hope that helps someone!

+1 for Konica Minoltas. We have just ditched our last machine we had under contract with Danwood (hooray) and now deal direct with KM. Really good lease and purchase options and low cost per page even with maintenance included. I've personally found the machines more reliable than the Canon and Sharp ones we had through Danwood.

As TMG has been retired...

I too am looking at the future after TMG. Is anyone using Sophos UTM 9? It seems to do most of what TMG does... -

We use the same ideas as DMcCoy except we set the ImportPRF value in the registry (in the mandatory profile) to achieve the same thing - we don't seem to have any delay in start up this way. From MS Site: We get around the user matching issue by putting "%username%@yourdomain.com" for the username in the PRF file. That way everyone gets on without trouble. I have attached two example PRFs for you exchset.prf (which prompts for password on Outlook startup for added security) and exchset_ts.prf (which does not prompt, we use this on TS profile). All you need to do is change the two instanced of "MailboxName=%UserName%@domain.com" and "HomeServer=exchange.domain.com" to suit your setup. Hope this helps exchset.prf.txt exchset_ts.prf.txt

@webman Any news on the correction of the problem of the booking when in 1room/week view?

We use Smartfilter, BESS edition, which integrates nicely into ISA. Very powerful with lots of options and categories. Includes education specific categories and exceptions. Fairly good reporting as well. We get it for about £700 a year. More info at: http://www.securecomputing.com/index.cfm?skey=1209 or PM me.

Leon - have you, or anyone else, put any HP 2626/2650s in Prisms? If so, what is the least depth you can get away with? Thanks

Are you able to share the RM ADMs... or are they part of a purchased RM package? Thanks!

Hi, We have a PRF file which is imported into Outlook on its first run. The PRF file contains you Outlook Account settings. The PRF settings file can be created with the Office Customization Kit. A PRF Whitepaper is available here. To get the PRF to import, we set the following registry key at logon: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Setup] "ImportPRF"="\\\\nts1\\profiles\\exchange.prf" "First-Run"=- Hope this helps.
