I'd ask a question alluding to training needs of all staff, and see if they can come back with an answer that means they are thinking about support staff as well as teachers, gives you an idea if they are thinking of everyone or if they have a teacher centric view. i asked these sorts of qs as a gov when i was on the head panel interview. as you know the school has more staff than just teachers, how would you envisage the continued professional development of all staff in the school if you were to become the headmaster/mistress if all you get is a bunch of instet days suggestion you know that they hare just thinking teachers, if they actually mention training and other professional qualifications you may be onto a winner...

they are usually accessable from the underside, there will probably just be a few screws to undo. if its a SATA drive you can simly plug it into a pc or if you have a external usb drive caddy it would probably fit in that. alterative is of course to attach a monitor and boot the machien up and copy off the data that way

Similar story here, we have both avalible but MS office is used more occasionally see a student use openoffice. though outlook is used as our mail client with exchange.

yeah sorry should have been clearer... use loop back merge would process both whats applied to the user and replace ignores the users and just applies whats in the user section down the computer part of the tree. Gordon.

Use a Merged GP, put it on the OU that the TS is in then int he policy, right click its name and choose properties, then goto the security tab untick Authenticated uses Apply Policy and add the group of users you want it to apply to, and tick Apply group policy

I've done it with 2008 but not R2 yet.... you need a TS gateway, and within that (managment snappin) you can create Applications to publish and Make the RDP files, but your essentially right you use the internal name of the server but tell it to connect via a TS Gateway, which will have a real name/ip like tsgateway.myschool.region.sch.uk On the gateway you only need to open up 80 and 443 as its HTTP/S based AS long as you setup the RAP and CAP then you can connect as required to any internal TS server or your desktop even if you have Remote Desktop turned on!

if its the bare metal hyper-visor version of hyper-v then i think its like having hypervisor on a core ver of windows, and therefore the pc with hyper-v on can't do any management and therefore rdp won't work

i had to set the Terminal Server certificate to Autogenerated.. as per the picture i posted earlier.. Administrative tools -> Terminal services -> Terminal Services Configuration. Right Click RDP-TCP under the connectiosn box Properties... the bottom of the genral TAG chose autogenerated.

Farmerste.. the Rad is separate to the actuall DHW its part of the boiler to coil loop see attached.. i've installed it all now.. just got some oil work to do before i can turn it on and test it... the real q is since it has to be gravity fed the rad is actually a little lower than the rayburn, and i was conserned that it wont flow through it but just through the Cylinder.. i've brought the whole return flow pipe right down below the Rad which i think will solve it.. but will find out soon enough. Nice to do something a bit different than IT though lol..

Well answering the poll a little late because I did watch it. I'm a conservative cllr. I think that the most important thing we have is free speech and a free press. Unfortunately Nick is an elected member... and of a national parlament, not just a council like me. And therefore despite what his views are he *has* been elected to represent those people, and in that case should have been on the show.... Let’s hope the public who watched the program like me would after seeing it not want to vote for them.

Any Plumbers here!!! can you put a heat leak rad lower than the boiler in a gravity fed DHW system? obviously im hoping the rayburn will just need to keep the Hot water hot and won't need to use the heat leak, but airing on the side of caution i want to put it in... i want it on the other side of the wall to the rayburn in the next room rather than traditionally upstiars in the bathroom. trouble is the bottom of the Rad will be lower than the boiler return.... i could bring the boiler return down below the rad as an option or do i not even need to do this? Well after printing googles front page today the barcode does scan in and lo and behold says google

we don't have individaul shares we map h: to the DFS \\school\DFS\HOME\YEARJOINED\%username% or staff would go \\school\DFS\HOME\STAFF\%username% with Home being the shared folder / DFS Target thingy me bob... (year joined equates to wqhen they would have joined in year 7 so year groups are together) which makes it nice and easy for moving the home drives around from server to server and no one notices! our usernames don't follow a convetion the lower three years are all firstname.lastname the rest are a mix but mostly firstinitalLastname

we actually isntall proxypal (which is free) on our staff laptops and put the button next to the home button it simply enables and disables the proxy at the click of a button.

I was thinking along a similar line... the solution that i have that i dont want to implament is removing the power from the back of the units.. they are needed occasionally to make DVDs from Video Software... rather than as a reading/input drvie.... so i dont need virtual Drives

Hi Guys i have some PCs that have DVD Drives in i wan't to be able to lock them closed so the eject button doesn't work. Most of the time they won't be used but occasionally for mastering DVDs they will be needed. I found a couple of Apps that will lock the Drive so i know its possible, however they are icon and tray based and don't have any command line switches and need doing post login so they don't serve my purpose, other than proof of concept. for example CDLocker.exe by sosftbureau.com i've had a look around and can't find anything... surely someone has written a EXE or Script for this purpose. that i could use as a login script.
