Haven't tried this as I don't have IE6 around ATM.

This is what I had to change. I downloaded what I hope is the latest 1.5 package this morning. I need to compare this stuff with what I did at home over the weekend. Some things look a little different (it could just be old age).

Having transferred work to school I now find I have a gap (see image) between the top menu items and the dropdown. As I'm still finding my way around Joomla could someone please point me to the relevant css sheet.

Thanks. That's where I was going wrong then. I was increasing .headerbg22, but not compensating by reducing .headerbg21.

The title says it all really. Where can I find the tag relating to the width of the horizontal menu container to stop items dropping down a line?

I don't know if this has been posted, but I was messing with the header image this morning and wondered what would happen if I extended the header image for the full width (950px) of the page. As you can see from the attachment, the menu overlays the image. There don't seem to be any ill effects to the rest of the site when using the menu and image in combination that I can see. I could do with dropping the menu down a tad though as it sits too close to the title text.

Had an email from this company wanting us to put a link on our website to their website. I can't see anything wrong with this site myself. Has anybody else had contact from them or found anything untoward?

1.The decision for a VLE rests solely with the educators not the IT staff? This depends on the school really. It could be that the educators want IT staff to support it, or it could be that the VLE is hosted and managed externally by a provider. Just to add that your LEA may choose a particular VLE for all the schools but it doesn't mean that your school has to accept that choice. If you or your school find something they're happier with then by all means use it. You won't get the economies of scale though. 2. All VLE's are pretty much the same, they all have the same functionality? Some do somethings better than others, while failing in other areas. I can't really add much more than others have written here. 3. From the end-users perspective it does nt matter whether the VLE is hosted internally or externally? There are pros and cons here. If it's hosted in house or externally then someone has to have responsibility for it, and this could cause problems if only one person has the "knowledge" and then decides to leave. However, if the VLE is provided by a third party support should be included in the cost. With the advent of BSF, will you or any of your colleagues be kept on to manage the VLE? 4. A secondary school and feeder primaries would benefit greatly from all using the same VLE? And upscale that to the 14-19 Diploma and you can see that all schools within an LEA would be better off singing from the same VLE. But I feel your assumption is generally correct. 5. Most teachers will use a VLE as a replacement for the dumping ground that is the shared network drive? I encourage our staff to do this, but with a structure in place so that they can only put their work in certain areas. My aim here is for it to become second nature with established staff that the VLE is where they deposit work. I'll hopefully come up with an addendum to the new staff induction material which will contain some online VLE training.

Just trying this at home and it's looking good. One thing I've found is the drop down menus don't seem to function correctly in IE7 (see attached image). As you mouse over one it's fine, but as you move to another section the first drop down doesn't disappear.

One of the seminars at the BETT conference touches on some of these points, BETT 2009 - Innovations enabled by ICT: one school's story Dr. Paul Kelly has done some quite useful research in this area.

I agree that more should be spent on extra teachers in the early years where some children almost need one-to-one tuition. I suppose if NQT's can only afford to live in the areas where the poorest schools are then perhaps the government shouldn't be offering the extra money, in fact it should be reducing the salaries of teachers.

It doesn't work out as that much over three years really. Once tax is deducted you're probably talking of £2000+ a year. While I appreciate this is a big difference for us techies, would it really make a teacher stay at a "difficult" school for three years? My wife and I wouldn't have gone to university without full grants being available (I'm talking about the '70's here). Perhaps they should look at reintroducing these to reduce educational apartheid.

An electricity substation failure on Friday caused some problems (shut down the school) for us. Once the substation was sorted everything seemed to be working fine until around Saturday teatime when access was again lost. I couldn't hit the VLE/Website from home this morning. I shouldn't worry about that too much. It's the school website which is mainly outward (public) facing. Moodle is for staff, students and parents. You're doing a grand job.
