how to see who hasn't looged into Moodle
beeswax replied to beeswax's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
With nearly 1500 users I'm hoping to avoid going down that path. -
Is there a way to query a Moodle site to find out who hasn't yet logged in? We went live in September and I need to find the pockets of resistance and obliterate them.

Thanks guys. I have to admit that I panicked at the time and didn't think clearly. The pupil in question is sorted. Hope you all have a good xmas.

Well done Zak. And it falls on a Friday. Watch that ice when you come out of the pub tonight, you might fall over.

perhaps not the right title. A pupil was having trouble with a pen drive being recognized on a machine, so I logged on as network admin and let the computer recognize it, opened the pen drive to check it was working and somehow managed to delete a folder. Without realizing this I logged off and allowed the pupil to log on again, and that was when she realized the folder was missing. There are no backups of the folder in school or at home. Is this folder lost forever or is there a recycle bin somewhere where I could locate this?

...which may not affect the managed services tide too much, but I believe she's the partner of Alastair Campbell (yes that Alastair). Her email address is at the foot of the page. The lad who used to run our repro dept got a sabbatical for a year while he went to Australia. Someone was taken on as temp for a year but because he didn't come back, the post was readvertised and she landed the job full time. I suppose it all depends on the head. In all honesty it's up to you. I feel that you've only one life to live and there's a lot to see and do out there.

now that you mention it, I recall bossman saying something along those lines, but possibly related to something else, which is why I didn't make the connection. thanks for the prod.

Last week I was called to the D&T room to unblock a printer and saw a notice on a computer monitor, "This computer isn't working. Do not use." It hadn't been reported to us (the keyboard was unplugged). On Wednesday I took my daughter for a university interview, and while she was being shown round the physics dept and the campus I went to the library to do some work. In the library was a machine with a notice, "This computer isn't working. It will probably never work again." We don't have a helpdesk in school (teacher apathy) but i would have thought a university would find a helpdesk essential. Helpdesk or not, how do you get staff to report faults?

I think I should be told.

I think what Broc is trying to say is that staff appointed to handle IT after everybody else has been Tuped won't have any protection. I may be wrong.

Moodle - Stop Editing Teachers Changing Blocks On Front Page
beeswax replied to FN-GM's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Look in Site Admin>Front Page>Front Page Roles and see if you have the teachers in there. If you have, get rid of them. They should only have the teacher roles in their faculty courses.
