My biggest gripe with Frog is that they don't seem to care about outside devs, you have to be staff at a school running a Frog install to see into their private forums and dev stuff so I hear, which means all the little add-ons and blocks come from the very few teachers and techies that have both the time and knowledge to develop these. Of course, 80% of the time if you know how to develop these things you probably wouldn't be teaching, so the numbers are few and far between.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't ABTutor very similar to Netsupport School (never used AB) in that settings mean absolutely nothing if the tutor console isn't open?

To answer an old question, RHEL and SUSE double up the letters, to sdx, sdy, sdz, sdaa, sdab, etc. It's probably the same on some other distros too, but I don't have the hardware to try it for 27 different drives on Ubuntu here.

Samba4 can serve GPO and AD, to the point where I do believe you can use the Microsoft Management Console to manage users and such (don't quote me on this). For GPO on Linux, use this: Free Active Directory Tools for UNIX, Linux and Mac OS X haven't used it myself, but it looks pretty good.

Some of you are way overcomplicating this, all you need is a second graphics card, no need for Crossfire/SLI, just stick them both in and make sure the drivers are installed, easy 4 displays providing the cards have two usable heads. Grab a GTX460, stick it in as a replacement for the 7100, you should be good to go.

The above solution may not be an optimal solution bear in mind, especially if students need to use that for ICT or something. Really, Netsupport/RM Tutor needs a bit of tweaking anyway, blocking internet access doesn't actually work in Netsupport 10 if it's not IE, I believe, and since RM Tutor is Netsupport rebranded and a bit behind I assume it's the same with that.

Ahhhh! Mac Filtering is one of the worst systems in existence, not because it's inherently an insecure system, but because everyone thinks it's bulletproof. Honestly a Mac is easy to spoof as one two three these days. Thinking that Mac filtering is a good mindset is not a good mindset at all. And no, it won't suffice for iPhones/iPods/Android either, you can spoof on them too I hear. Stop using WPA2 only, use certificates on the machines as well, perhaps under a different SSID to the ones that don't support certificates. My college has a Trusted, Guest and Other SSID, Guest is open and has a captive portal, Trusted requires WPA2 and a valid certificate, Other I'm not even sure what it's used for to be honest. And yeah, that's an Aruba system.

Well, if they run with AD/DC you could link them up, I think? Not had much experience in multiple DCs, only have an independent DC. It's where I need to hone my skills the most really. But if they don't run as AD/DC then you should theoretically be able to link them up to a single domain controller, should work just fine. What I find sad is that Multipoint isn't on my MSDN downloads list, I was quite looking forward to giving it a go, since it just uses bog standard mice, keyboards, monitors and USB hubs.

I never really saw the appeal in Multipoint (which this is based on) based on the fact that as soon as you introduce it to an environment with people familiar with computers, I suspect it would be pretty quick to end up messing up somehow. I mean, the video for MultiPoint 2010 ( ) shows them doing instances of photo editing, word processing, etc, all simultaneously, and I have to wonder how much of that is actually MultiPoint running and how much of it is faked or at least fixed (log the other kids off while they show two of them working), since I can imagine that can be quite resource intensive, especially on a wee little PC like that. I can see how it may be good in primary though, not that many primary kids are likely to be doing 2 things at once on a PC, let alone 5 or 6. EDIT: Wait, how Primary are we talking? This thing would crash and burn in the ICT Suite of a school with people in the age range of about Year 6, and I know there are probably numerous out there that would attempt to get this thing working and then be rather disappointed when it doesn't, I knew what toner was in junior school, it wouldn't have taken me long to work out that the whole thing was on one machine and make the entire room cry out in pain from resource hoggage.
