I've just found an Administration manual released on 18/01/2018 at http://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/
-
I setup and configured ITALC many moons ago to be able to only access the PC's in the room from the teacher PC but also to be able to select which room to connect to from the System Admin PC. I have just learnt of Veyon and wondered if this was possible to have the same scenario? There doesn't seem to be much documentation on Veyon and from what I have found today, instruction videos are not in English. Can anyone confirm or deny the setup possibilities and point me in the right direction to configure a deployment. Many thanks

[sccm 2012] Unable to promote pre-production client
tred44 replied to Geoff's topic in O/S Deployment
Are you using the console on your Primary Site server? I thought I Had the same issue when using the console on my own PC, but when you open up the console on the Site Server it then allows you to promote the Pre-Production Client. -
I appreciate the capabilities of SCCM but the powers-that-be will not allow such a rapid migration and expect a least a term of co-existence in a least 1 suite for testing purposes. One option was to deploy Win10/64bit and use the .v5 profile which obviously would have no effect on any Win7 PC but this is ensuring that all software is ready for Win10 and we definitely have some specialist applications that definitely aren't. Thhis may be the way forward and using workarounds for those particular applications but I still want to explore the possibility of Win7 32bit & 64bit co-existence.

Thanks for the quick replies. There is no particular reason for 32bit PC's apart form we just haven't started the migration to 64bit yet and were wanting to start testing for Engineering & Computing software. (There may be some historical financial software that may prevent moving some admin pc's but I expect all student PC's to complete the migration at some point.) My problem is that we have over 1700 PC's and Laptops and there is no way these can all be updated at the same time, or across a few weeks, so we will definitely have to co-exist during the migration. (We have over 100 different software packages and applications across multiple sites so even using SCCM it would be a very tall order to expect migration to happen quickly). MS definitely say that sharing the roaming profile between the 2 OS's is not supported but some people have blogged saying they haven't had any particular problems. I'm preparing for worst case and there wanting feedback on what issues people have found and any suggestions?

We have a complete existence of 32bit PC's and all Staff & Students have roaming profiles. We are wanting to start introducing 64bit OS's for our Computing & Engineering suites but realise that there is an issue with the roaming profiles being shared between to 2 different architectures. There is no-way of keeping Students that use 64bit PC's away form the 32bit PC's, and due to the number of users, there is no-way of using separate accounts. Please can someone with the experience of migrating from 32bit to 64bit OS's across a school/campus suggest how they approached this and their final solution. Many thanks in advance.

I am in the process of changing our Excel Spreadsheet to an Access Database. We have over 2000 items including not just the PC's and Laptops but also IWB's, Projectors, Camera's etc. Would you mind PM'ing me with a heads up on the different tables you have used.

Sorry to appear simple but I have never used SCCM for OSD before, only for software deployments. At the moment the college is using the Computer Association to import MAC addresses and then add the particular PC's to the appropriate collection that will then reference the correct build. If I can use the above to prompt for the input of OSDComputerName at PXE build stage, can i also prompt for the input of the appropriate Collection so the PC will get the correct build? Many thanks in advance.

I totally agree with AMLightfoot but also with DCITuser1. Some of the guys are terrific and have been a great help to my company in the past but I feel sorry for them. The problems lie further up the hierarchy and personally I would not work with them again. (IT Techs come and go but the owners will always be the same.) To be honest, I can't understand how they are still in business! Of course different users have different good and bad experiences from particular suppliers and you need to make your own mind up - but you have been warned!

Frog Update is it me or does it always break things
tred44 replied to round2it's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
I've not had time to check all the bug fixes yet but we were hoping that the 'Move Page' action would be working but this still needs to be fixed to work within an 'IF..' statement. Hopefully another update coming out today. Also found that the full character codes are now being displayed again instead of the actual character. Still tryign to work through our issues to check the rest of the problems we had. -
