  1. If you are using win 7 sometimes it lies about the firewall. Use "netsh advfirewall show allprofiles" in an admin cmd to make sure
  2. Use the "netsh advfirewall show allprofiles" command to check it is defo off
  3. DNS? we have similar gremlins. Can you ping fqdn and machine name?
  4. If it's any help we use gpp for printers and it never seems to set defaults on first logon. It installs them but doesn't always set them defaults. A log off usually fixes this or wait for gp to refresh
  5. We restrict rdp and ultimately remote sims access to school owned devices by security group, so I suppose technically we have 3fa for sims remotely
  6. Here is a link to the post Russ from impero posted way back http://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?p=741216
  7. Never used that before but impero offer a free ad user import. We create controlled assessment accounts using it. Works a treat and will do what you need
  8. I like openvpn. Fairly easy to set up tbh. Google it
  9. Ohh ohh forgot about the 6 office moves we got told about on the last day of term. Love being kept in the loop

  12. Would highly recommend centos round2it. Nice and stable, but thats my own preference
  13. Mrbs will do this kind of. LDAP no probs As for sims integration we use a php script picked up from here that will read a CSV exported from sims. Any small changes are then done manually. Works a treat
  14. 1.5 to 2.5 went fine for us using jupgrade I have a staging copy of our website I test things on first. I just remade our template for 2.5
  15. My fav rearranging of keys was "k.n.*.b.end" with end being the end key We check all bookable rooms every morning. The lucky person on the early shift gets to do it. Then when damages happen we are never more than a day behind investigating. Same as above most damage is done by unsupervised "oh look there is an open it suite" students. However we have our fair share of teachers at all levels who fail to check , notice or reports damages. Apparently there just isn't time!
  16. Possibly because it adds a space at the end when you do this. Our staff proxy is fine too in WsM

Noooooooooo that should make it interesting for our teachers
  20. AFAIK as long as the device has a TPM module you can do away with the USB. The USB does the same job as the TPM.
  21. Same as @plexer Seems really good but as with anything you need the staff to sell it. We have it "advertised" on the vle homepage
  22. You can defo do bitlocker without TPM or pin with a USB start up.
  23. Sorry, always mix those up. Tis what I meant
  24. I'd use a combo of group policy modelling and resultant set of policies to see what should be applying and what actually is
