  3. Hey guys I am a Scout leader in my spare time (to get away from technology and give back a bit to the community) This is a bit cheeky but.... Mendip Outdoor Pursuits (A local Outdoor Pursuits provider to us) is running a comp on Facebook. If anybody could up vote us it would be awesome. We are 1st Uphill Scouts. I had a look and doesn't break their rules although it is a little sneaky posting on here, but if somebody can get a person from NZ to vote I thought hey! Why not ask my edugeek friends Here is the linky http://www.facebook.com/questions/489562144423566/ Thanks guys
  4. If you add "-tcp" to the Steam command line, then the only ports you need open besides 80 are outbound connections to TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive.
  5. Hey guys Just thought you should know that we have successfully unblocked the steam ports on SWGfL. SWGfL by all accounts have been in contact with valve and have come up with a way. As for proxy problems if you use -tcp as a switch when opening the program (add this to the shortcut) then the client will only use tcp ports. Also if you have an ISA server just use the firewall client. When using the ISA client the steam client will connect as long as you have opened up the right ports in ISA.
  6. What a great offer... oh hold on... you need to run it through steam? In a school? behind a squillion firewalls. See ya. We have tried but failed. Nice offer but Valve should really consult schools about setup as this will never work in our environment as is.
  7. Hi bestbett your second problem is a problem we came across too. It is relating to the setting of requiring a password after sleep There is a gpo setting for that - computer configuration > policies > admin templates > system > power management > sleep settings > require password on wakeup. Good luck with the quicker log ons. ours seem random in length with "preparing your desktop" being the crux
