Top tip. Don't try to replicate a shared drive in google drive. Split up data into team drives. Also would recommend staff move their own files.
-
For the record too I've had 4 dead disks in the last year. All seagate

With raid 5 if you have a dead disk in the array and an Unrecoverable Read Error on a parity sector on another drive it is goodbye data. Raid 6 or 10 it.

If it is just a shared mail account why don't you just delegate the mailbox to each person that needs it. -
Dahua here. Very pleased with the price vs performance. Our local security company will fit them for about 175 notes per cam if cabling a poe is in place.

Scheduling reboots for auto updates
markwilfan replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in Windows Server 2012
I use a simple bat file run from a server on a schedule a day after patch Tuesday. Runs at 2 in the morn but reboots servers in a specific order of my choosing to avoid backup windows and to prevent everything from restarting at once. Can't imagine having all dcs at once restart is good for AD for example. -

Trilby tv is worth a look if you're looking for a signage software. Just deals with video files for compatability but is great for showcasing work -
So does the package run ok post deploy? I've had some scripts not work during the ts but fine after.
-
Oops sorry missed the middle bit of your post
-
Also have you tried making a package and running it post deploy?
-
Does the script work outside of sccm. Can you run it manually?

After loads of various tests last night I rebooted the server as soon as everybody had gone to bed and it seemed to have alleviated the slow performance. Really odd. Discovered that both the OS and DATA partitions are RAID5 joy of joys.

I used https://www.techwhisperer.ca/2017/03/04/disable-smb1-with-powershell-and-sccm/ to disable site wide. Like I said it is just 1 server with win 7 that is the issue. Perplexed

I use win 10 myself. No probs to the server in question. Server disk performance is good. Hadn't tried server to server yet.

Hey guys Anybody experiencing slow SMB performance after disabling SMB1? We have disabled it on the clients (Win 7) and Servers (Win 2012 R2, 2016) and now we have weird performance issues on the staff file server. All other servers seem fine but saving the a users N: from Office seems very slow. The server in question is our last remaining physical non-HyperV server and is sat their doing not much so it can't be a load issue. Mark

I did this last summer too. Makes troubleshooting much easier. I went for 172.16.x.y 3 big 20 bit subnets for guest, student and staff wifi then starting at 172.16.100.x I have 24 bit subnets for all the usual stuff. 3rd octet of every range is the vlan number so 172.16.111.0/24 is vlan 111 etc All nice and tidy Took around 1 week and lots of planning

Thanks @3s-gtech So couple of fails on my behalf. I was attempting to download this on a Mac that was already on Sierra. Also the Mac in question have a locked down profile so was stopping App Store from loading correctly. After disabling policies on logon I now have the el Capitan DMG downloading. Thanks very much
-
Hi Guys Anybody have the DMG for el Capitan kicking around? We have 1 of our Macs that is an early 2009 iMac that is stuck on osx 10.9.5 and Apple are now shipping Sierra we can no longer get hold of the DMG. Would be really greatful if somebody could upload a DMG to Google Drive/Onedrive/Dropbox etc and PM a link Thanks muchly

I used this https://www.rsaeks.com/?p=469 as a basis for creating the correct mdns service in our aruba controller -
Why don't you post the cables that worked and which ones didn't?
-
Why are you wanting to defrag them? Are you using Windows 98?
