  1. Maybe that is why I was one of those that voted against! Then again it may have been due to the incorrect statement in the CR! SLG does work on mobile devices, especially WP7!
  2. From SupportNet:- Message posted by Jonathan Wood on 10 February 2011 at 11:45 pm Jonathan Wood Capita Education Services CARDINGTON Hi Mike, Just to clarify the reference (on the relase notes) is to SQL Server 2008 R2. i.e. the SIMS SQL Server only. Windows Server 2008 R2 (i.e. the Operating system) is already supported for SIMS, FMS, ADPS) Hope this helps, Regards, Jon
  3. I am usually diplomatic when I respond to reasonable queries Graham! My record on SupportNet obviously 'supports' that! As does the last 20 or so threads I have contributed to here!
  4. If I were you then I would be wanting to visit schools who are known for using the software efficiently. Capita have Partnership schools for this purpose and I would advise contacting one of these to see SIMS. I am sure that the other software companies could recommend sites where their software is well used.
  5. I win! ......... or lose ........ .............. depending on your point of view!
  6. Sounds like it might be a close run thing! Just sent PM with the relevant info....... for your eyes and ears only!
  7. I seem to remember on one occasion that it was me that caused a delay! That's the idea of UAT - to try and break it! I ain't found a release breaker on this one as yet and the only UAT I got left to attend is SIMS Discover on Friday - but that's already delayed!
  8. I have voted too .................
  9. I made one or two points at the Alternative Curriulum Meeting/UAT but they won't postpone the release because of what I said. Hopefully enhancements will make it to the Summer Release!
  10. If you are using Profiles Review then you don't get tardy teachers! The Report writing closes on a definitive date! If there are a few errant staff early on when you start to do this then all you need is a very strong member of the SLT to oversee the Profiles Session and make their presence fealt! The only late ones we get now are due to absence - but we know that before we change the Session from Active to Review and so I 'Unapprove' those straight away, so the the member of staff when they return (or somebody else in the dept) can complete these reports during the Review phase. (See the thread on SupportNet)
  11. Is that an echo I hear .....?
  12. Can do it easily from my WP7. Obviously it ain't an IPad tho' so I assume somebody will accuse me of going off topic! Update It don't cost me 'owt!
  13. I may be able to give you a little more information after the next UAT Meeting/Workshop on Friday! Then again ..............
  14. Yer..... .... but I'm only into my 7th Decade!
  15. Oh yes! I missed that! Probably 'cos it's two words and not one .......... Senility kicking in again ...............
  16. Should be ok then. What category partner are they? I know that the Capita Website is not up-to-date as CHQ is not on there yet!
  17. ...... and are Blueshills a Capita Partner? I cannot find them in the list on the Capitaes website! I avoid everything that is NOT a Capita partner!
  18. This may be of interest - Copied from SupportNet KB92431:- As per the SIMS Learning Gateway Summer 2010 release note, SLG2 is supported and tested on the following internet browsers : PC Internet Explorer 8.x Internet Explorer 7.x Internet Explorer 6.x Mozilla Firefox 3.x Safari 3.x Safari 4.x MAC Mozilla Firefox 3.x Safari 3.x Safari 4.x
  19. Is this a different program to IEP Writer provided by Capita for SIMS?
  20. Please don't just take my word for it but it is what I was told was happening! I have been referring to:- KB100597 - Does Capita support SQL Server 2008 R2? for quite a while now! This also confirms this new support!
  21. It is supported! A check with Capita should confirm this for you! I have posed the question on SupportNet Technical Forum. Hopefully Pete Brown or one of his colleagues will report back!
  22. It says' Support for SQL Server 2008 R2' in the Technical Section. Full Stop! The following is from the Pre-Release note which came out just before the document above: Further Technical enhancements include the support of Office 2010 (32 and 64 bit) for SIMS software and support for SQL Server 2008 R2 in addition to our ongoing support for SQL Server 2008.
  23. The SIMS 2011 Spring Pre-Release notes confirm support for SQL Server 2008 R2 and for Office 2010 (32 & 64 bit)! SIMS will not upgrade to this version on SQL 2005! Release by COB 18th March.
  24. Welcome Carrie! Assuming you are who I think you are ............. But welcome anyway if you are not!
