+1 for Ricoh. We have 2 x IMC5500 and 1 x IMC3500 with them. We essentially use their own version of papercut called Ricoh cloud print. They have been solid for us, they have the occasional issue, but support are always quick to come out.

Chrome OS Flex would keep them running for a while.

1. I repair them in house. We have a loan agreement that includes a price list for different levels of damage, for example, £30 for a cracked or damaged screen. 2. We don’t have an exact number, but I usually like to keep a couple of spares for each year group, in our case around 15 in total. 3. We operate on a 1:1 basis for Years 5 and 6. 4. We only operate on a 1:1 basis for Years 5 and 6, as a device is more of a necessity for them due to their current workload, such as SATs and homework. 5. We refresh devices either before automatic updates are no longer available or when, following an audit, their physical condition is deemed unsuitable. 6. We don’t use this kind of setup. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are allowed to take their devices home (provided they have signed the loan agreement). Filtering is applied both on and off site, and we also use a timer that locks devices overnight to encourage a break from screens.

Had this a lot. Especially with interactive screens, like you say, it essentially forces you to choose that supplier as others won't compete. In the past, I have emailed the supplier directly e.g. BenQ and asked them to "unlock" our school for pricing, which then allows other suppliers to get educational pricing. However... this is just a loop really, not really an answer!

We have had Vodafone FTTP for over a year, was very good for the first 9 months. Recently however, we have had a few issues with the router dropping offline, and random outages. I would say overall it has been "ok" though. Looking to replace their router soon anyway, and go with a UniFi UDR straight into the ONT for better reliability and customisation.

Are these 1:1 chromebooks? or class sets? We asset tag ours (even the non 1:1) this makes them trackable to at least the classroom. I then add the asset tag number, and serial number for the device within the admin console/Parago and this is how we identify them. If we have the asset number, we can then go into the admin console, find the device and look at the recent user activity/who's logged in. A while ago I used something in GAM to find a recent user from a serial number, very powerful tool.

We appear to be having issues on our chromebooks using the RM SafetyNet Go extension. Web pages do not load at all. Staff devices (without the extension) are working fine!

They do offer 2FA, it means the student has to sign in with their Wonde password, and magic badge.

Acer 515 Chromebook Plus, specifically either the i5 or i3 model. A few of our staff have them and they are very good quality. They also have auto updates for 6 years, so technically as long as they stay in good shape, I wont be looking to replace them any time soon.

Having issues with this at the moment as well. Recently migrated from Arbor (data synced fine from them) to Bromcom. Ever since, it has taken days to update info in software like MyConcern.

Just an update... This appears to be an issue caused by the RMSafetyNet Go extension for off-site filtering. They have marked it as a problem on their status page - https://status.rm.com/

Speak to a reseller, e.g. Getech, or XMA, C-Learning. They should be able to get you setup with an education workspace quicker. I also believe it is free for them to do this.

Hi all, Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this issue, before I head over to Googles support live chat. We use MyLogin and Magic Badges for authentication on our chromebooks. When the students logged in this morning (in fact throughout the day) no tabs within Google chrome are loading. It just displays a white page, as if its trying to load. No changes have been made recently to the network or filtering. Weirdly, a powerwash appears to fix the issue - but I don't fancy going around and powerwashing 400+ devices (unless I really have to). There is also no pattern in terms of certain devices affected and is happening on different OS versions (139 & 140 ->). Anyone else experienced this?

Unfortunately, the only way I have found is via manual CSV upload. Luckily, we had a previous system in place so I was able to just download from there, then upload to Every.

My thoughts exactly, £7200 a year just for the line! - then you add filtering on top! Do you find that 1GB is necessary? not doubting that you need it, just wondering. We are a similar size. 600 students, 100 staff, and about 400 devices. We have a 330/50 FTTP line and find that this is reasonable enough for our needs, but I have debated upping it as it can be slow at certain points in the year (i.e. Christmas when each classroom is watching a film or youtube).

Literally had to do this yesterday, but vice-versa, an MSP is now supporting one of my schools. They just sent me a hand-over template for the school and requested that I fill it in. It listed all of the services I manage (Google, O365, MDM, ASM, Filtering Wi-Fi information etc...) I created them accounts on the systems and listed passwords, then sent it off. I imagine you would do the same, I (personally) prefer in-person handovers, but for this site it wasn't really needed (very small, and not a huge tech stack to be honest).

Very very similar to our setup before we joined a new MAT and they moved us to Windows. AD = GCPW DHCP/DNS = Hosted on Juniper router/firewall by SWGfL Printing = Ricoh Cloud Print Action1 for extra patching, software deployment, remote desktop, and scripting. Door access is managed via our site team, and doesn't require a locally hosted server.

Ask Wonde for a demo, I’m sure they can make this happen. Then ask your teachers for feedback. I’m confident they’ll be amazed at the amount of time it saves. After that, share the feedback with the HT. As someone else mentioned, a single class login is completely against KCSIE standards and should be avoided.

Speak to Getech, they can do it for you, or you can do it yourself. Setup isn't overly difficult, it essentially just involves setting MyLogin as your IdP. Definitely worth it though!
