Come to mention it I've had a ticket open with 0365 Support for about 3 weeks now, no responses bar the acknowledgement email.

Do Exam Boards not provide software for exams anymore?
Olliedawg replied to VBallantyne's topic in Educational Software
I've used Pearson PoP a few times, clunky bit of software. Thankfully we don't have any exams on this year using it. -
What exam software do you use? ExamWritePad allows you to force fullscreen mode, while disabling all of the shortcut keys to exit, such as alt+f4, ctrl+w, alt+tab etc..

Reviving this thread - has anybody else encountered MDT not capturing the image to the MDT share after sysprep? All of my settings look to be correct - as in both the Rules tab for the deployment share & the task sequence being set to capture at the end of the sequence. I have gone over these & made sure all correct, regenerated the .iso file afterwards. This is my process - Launch HyperV VM with the Default image.iso from MDT Server - Specify to capture an image to my MDT share \\**.**.**.**\Data\MDTShare\Captures - Wait for MDT to complete the image process/task sequence. Finishes with no errors at all at any point in the process. Once done, my captures folder on the share is empty. Anyone have any ideas?

I used a process very similar to Chill, works great. Not much input required from me at all. ExamWritePad is a great application to use for word processing - i recommend it if you don't already use it.
-
Sorted!!! Got the MDT user working without admin privileges. Did a deep dive of permissions on the D:\ drive which contains the MDTBuild & also completely regenerated the deployment .wim
-
I'll do some more tinkering tomorrow - determined to get it working!
-
Yea I didn't like the idea of the MDT user having domain admin rights... Still haven't figured out the permissions for the MDT user though. I tried creating a new security group just for the MDT user, and allowing the group full access to the MDT share. Still no joy. I'm no good with powershell either so can't do it that way.

Banging my head against the wall here! So i have a MDT_User account set up, with full permissions to access the MDT deployment share. If I log into this user, I can fully access the MDT area, even hidden MDT folders. When I run the MDT iso in a HyperV VM & try to log in with the credentials of this MDT User account, i get an error stating I do not have access. Am i missing something stupid here? the MDT user has "Full Control" permissions over the MDT directory/deployment share. Just for testing purposes, i tried the domain admin creds which worked. I have tried changing the UNC path to the IP address instead of the server name, still the same. Any pointers much appreciated! - MDT is on a VM which is domain joined \\****-mdt01 - Created MDT_User account following the guide from Microsoft, with the same OU structure.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I now have mobility print set up - was super easy. Our site has been on Papercut for around 3 weeks now - nothing but praise for it.
-
Thanks both i'll have a look into mobility print!
-
It is not. It's just a network for students to use for basic internet access on their phones/tablets.. DHCP/DNS directly from the firewall & on a seperate VLAN. I think that mobility print may be the simplest option.. have you used mobility print before? If so, what are your experiences with it?
-
Hello all, We have a Student WiFi network, set up on VLAN 1. What I want to do is allow this network to see some of our papercut printers on our main network ( DEFAULT VLAN / VLAN 0 ) Is this possible?
-
Papercut offer a global print driver, although advanced print features are limited. This could work if you put all the printers under the same followme virtual queue. For advanced features you would probably need to map the individual printers with the correct driver

Thank you all. Going to look at MDT - cant really afford SCCM in our budget & MDT seems the better fit anyways
-
We currently do not have any form of mass deployment ( apart from a sysprepped windows 10 with office preinstalled ) that is applied via CloneZilla. Looking to streamline this more, also due to the fact that we are planning a room refresh later this year of 34 PC's, really dont want to be imaging these one at a time - what method do you recommend going forward? I was looking at either WDS or MDT (have never used either before, so would be learning as I go). I have also heard that SCCM is very good, although complex at first to get into? Just a bit of background - Small ish secondary school (550 students) around 120 student desktops around 100 staff desktops around 50 staff laptops around 40 student laptops

I'm not 100% sure what exactly happened, forgot to mention that it was on the users laptop & this was also done at home through a SSL VPN to our network. There must have been a connection problem during the sync which in turn caused these problems to occur - doesn't explain the fact that it removed the local files though. Or stated that the files were "available online" when they were not.
-
The staff member did say that they used the sync function in the software. That seems like what has happened here too, but also somehow removed the local files (had to use recovery software to find the files. luckily got them all back.) Put me right off using OneDrive desktop software now.
-
Just general folders containing PDF's, Word Docs, Excel worksheets etc.. Yes very strange, first time I have come across this. Seems like something had gone wrong with the cloud sync and misplaced local files somehow. Managed to recover them all in the end. Still leaving onedrive desktop disabled - staff can use the web version from now on. Don't want this to happen again for whatever reason.
-
Has anybody ever experienced issues with the onedrive software sync deleting local files, stating that they are "available" online through onedrive, when they are not? One member of staff has lost an entire folder of work today which has seemingly just disappeared. The Folder its self has uploaded to onedrive, but the contents of the folder have not synced/uploaded. Onedrive seems to have removed the local version of the files. I have since pushed out a GPO to disable Onedrive completely as this has deeply concerned me... Checked recycle bin both on the PC and One drive, nothing. I am currently running some file recovery software (recuva), hoping that it will find the missing files..

Free WEEE Collection in South West
Olliedawg replied to EssentialRug's topic in How do you do....it?
We also use the same company. Never had an issue with them the past 2 years. Can provide a large bin + cages if required. -
Agreed. I did stress this to SLT and they seemed to be understanding & appreciated my help with tracking the device. At the end of the day no real harm was done & i'm sure the student got a real bollocking from the head of year
-
Update : We managed to find the approximate location of the device broadcasting the SSID using a combination of the UniFi network controller & WiFiman. This narrowed it down to 4 classrooms. SLT went around and the student actually owned up to it! It was a year 7 student too which surprised me. I'm unsure on what was said/the disciplinary action taken.. although SLT have said it has been dealt with. Fingers crossed it doesnt happen again! Thanks to all who gave suggestions
