    Hi all, The Exam officer is having issues with SIMs Exam Organiser at the moment, where when she is doing stuff on it, it will throw up an error message saying 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server - Login timeout expired'. She then says it eventually comes up with a ' hand symbol' that then kicks her off of Exam Organiser. I don't have access to the Exam Organiser module, so I am not able to replicate the error, but she says it happens a enough to disrupt her working. Has anyone come across this issue before and have they been able to fix it? It has been happening a lot and we're not sure how to go about fixing it! Thanks, Sam

    Hi ittech, So it works when I log in, but not for a student. We have students doing assessments and their word document doesn't load, but then if I log them out and then I try word, it comes on.

    Hello, We have had this issue in our Academy where students will try to load work through Word, and if you go to task manager, you can see that Word is open as a background process, but it takes forever to actually load. I have sat with a machine before where it has taken 20+ minutes just to load a 20KB word document. Is there any way I can fix this where it'll work instantly everytime? There were a few things saying it could be something to do with Appdata, as we have roaming profiles, but we thought we had sorted this when we made a GPO to redirect roaming appdata to C:\Appdata. Not sure if anyone else has had an issue like this and knows a fix for it? Thanks, Sam

    Hi all, Thanks for your replies and your discussion for this - my main idea was to be able to be able to manage it appropriately. It wouldn't be something that is on 24/7, more like a policy if a student were to just constantly email staff without care for sanction or rule. We do enforce the same behavioural policy in the classroom for students misusing this, but it wouldn't stop them from continuing to do it if they wanted to. Thanks all.

    Hello, We seem to have a major issue at the moment where students are sending emails to teachers (because they know they can do it) and it's causing teachers to receive so many emails that aren't relevant. Is there a way that it can be restricted in anyway so that we can manage it properly? I know it sounds ridiculous! Students and teachers are on the same domain. We're using Microsoft Office 365 Thanks, Sam

    Ah okay - I thought when you ran the exe it shown a CMD rather than you running CMD separately. So If I want to export a specific year, I assume I type start PhotoExport.exe username *** password *** outputFolder C:\SimsImages /year:10

    Hi all, First time using Salamander Photo Export for SIMS. I have downloaded it from their website, but when I try to run the PhotoExport.exe, it shows the windows for a very split second, then closes off - is there something I am doing wrong? I have tried it on my workstation (that has SIMS workstation) and I have also tried it on the SIMS server. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Sam

    Hi phil0569, Is this setting for an individual user on their account, or the one in the Admin Center? We have tried to set the confidence to -1, but we're still seeing complaints about them being sent to Junk.

    Hi Rob_D, Yes - this is something we tried, but they were still going to the Junk folder. It's always the same email - probably the same subject as well?

    TechMonkey, Yes, it is a gamble to be honest. The problem we've had is that we initially had the spam confidence set to -1 but that didn't seem to have changed anything and all of our staff are still saying emails are being sent to their junk. It may just be something we have to keep an eye on.

    Hello all, We have ran into some issues that we're not sure how to proceed on. We have a company that uses one of our internal email addresses as an external address to send financial information to people within the school. Microsoft keeps picking these emails up as suspicious, meaning they are left in the Junk folder and are being constantly missed. We've tried to look in our admin center, but there's nothing clear to indicate that we can get these emails to send to staff Inboxes rather than Junk. The emails do also say 'The sender is not a verified sender' at the top. Does anyone have any ideas for this? Thank you in advance! Sam

    Hi Chaplic, I understand that I may have policies that are restricting me, which I am going through. To answer your second question, I haven't heard of anything that can deploy applications (exe for example) as an admin to end user machines, unless you are able to provide this solution? I would happily use something that lets me install applications as an admin, from my PC for example, if they're logged in as an end user.

    Hello free780, Sadly this doesn't seem to make a difference when your run as an admin, it just does the same thing as if you weren't an admin.

    So I did find this, and what we're looking for is User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation. But after enabling the policy, I still don't think that it works.

    Hi Tom, Your suggestion wasn't available to me, I couldn't see an option that said to run as a different user.

    Hello, No, that doesn't happen. It is set to just deny any installations. Do you know what way UAC has to be set up for it to work in our intended way?

    Hi all, We're a bit lost and need either guidance or someone who can point us in the right direction. We want to install applications on end user laptops/dekstops by double-clicking an application (while logged into the end user account) and typing in the administrator username and password for our domain instead of logging off of their account and using the domain admin account itself. We're not sure how to go about this, if someone could point us in the right direction? Thanks, Sam

    Hello, I did try this previous to your suggestion, but when I try to remove it, it shows a red box in the staff code. These people I am trying to remove the codes from haven't been on roll for a number of years - so I don't see how they should be in the timetable for this academic year.
