Please can you help me find the setting for Win10 that prohibits students typing in the name of a server into the file (explorer) window and it showing them all of the shares that they should not be able to see? Currently i am testing and this is one of the last problems i have with the win 10 policies. Thanks guys,

Same as ITGURU here. No problems with the logon script. Or just add it to startup folder on machines pointing to the print server paper cut pc client share.

Have tried restarting the SSM service and then manually running the scheduled import?

I'm sure i got this right especially with your help but have had to create a CA account as suggested by Zag. I added pcs to a security group but modelling showed that the GPO was DENIED through filtering?!!! The Security Filtering Name was (Global Security Group-) 'Room 16_17 computers' which is the group of pc's that i wanted it to apply to! Grrrrrr

PLease can someone help?! I have a user preference GPO mapping drives. It works fine for target-level USER security groups, etc. However, This is what i need to do. Map a final drive for Controlled Assessments. The teacher wants access as they go along completing timed work over a period of weeks. She wants this drive to be visible in 2 computer suites only for years 10 and 11. I have OU's for the computer rooms and security groups for the year groups, etc. I have tried: Item-levelling the two rooms' OU's (17 OR 16) AND USER belongs to YEAR 10 OR YEAR 11. As this is a USER GPO, i tried Loopback MERGE. Didn't work. Without loopback. Didn't work. Mapped drive applied to the COMPUTER OU's with USER item level for the year 10 OR year 11 security groups. With loopback- MERGE. Doesn't work. ANY IDEAS?

Thanks bobsmith indeed. That did cross my mind but i didn't know exactly what it meant. What does it stand for? And what do mean by have an employee record; is that what we are looking at in SIMS? She is not paid or employed by this school; she is a council officer.
-
Hi, Just a quick and, hopefully, easy one for you all. I have the Education Welfare Officer on my SIMS as a user as she works from here for a day a week. Trouble is that she is throwing up an error on the census as she is not employed here hence we hold no employment Details for her. What is the way around this folks; without removing her as i assume there must be a way..... or am i being stupidly optimistic?
-
HAHA no. Now Griff, it is time to let it go.....

Hi Geeks, I have been using the SIMS APP since the trials and was very happy with it last school year. Two questions for you: 1. Have any others experienced my situation whereby staff timetables are not available since the update? Capita tells me that they have changed the coding so that now you must have Lesson Monitor now to see this. All the teachers can see now is their forrn groups (if they have one) in the timetable now. I'm just a bit miffed as i had no warning of this and now i have to buy in to continue with the functionality i had before. 2. More pressing, i have some teachers that need an activation code but i cannot download these as i cannot mark the check box next to the relevant teacher as the error says 'No date of birth'. I have checked their Personal information and it exists in the right format in SIMS. Am i missing something simple?!

[sims] Microsoft Security Patch causing issues with SIMS7 Date Picker
Sir replied to MrMat's topic in MIS Systems
@Meldrew @DrCheese I have the Date Selector Patch EXE. Our council uses SOLUS 2 so it is up to me to manually to apply this fix to my 60 ish teaching machines. Could you give me any tips as to which the the relevant files are to copy to machines from this EXE? Or are you extracting different files from SOLUS 3 to copy over in a script? -
Didn't shout or chase just called and they rang back. I don't have much time as any network manager but I could spare 5 seconds most days to keep such a service running.
-
Well I would like to counter this. ..but first, if you go to Bett, what do you expect?! A few talks and sell sell sell. This is not really the place to be ranting without seeking resolution surely. My experience was fine. Yes, a few features needed to be added to fine tune it. I simply added a restart of services daily to counter the ssm issues at first and finally, when I signed up, I got it all up and running (with great help from the team) then was given two weeks to raise payment or the service would be withdrawn. Much like a trial. Back to the helping on forums me thinks.
