Hello, With full SharePoint and one drive systems, how are you all managing teacher access to students files in primary schools?

We use it across all our schools. Self release quarantined/ blocked email/ spam has been a massive time saver in itself!

SIMS customers without current annual entitlement agreements will not be able to access or use the Census menu option in SIMS, since this has been updated as part of the Spring 2022 release and FMS customers without current annual entitlement agreements will be unable to access the CFR menu options, which has also been updated in the Spring 2022 release. All other menu items will function normally. Is this a legal duty of schools per chance?

But why not put some of that 40M investment into keeping us a little sweet during this time by at least giving us the 'Connected SIMS' (Hosted SIMS in HTML5 and still needs SIMS ID (no sso/ ADFS intreation i believe) and mapped remote drives) for no extra cost during this phase. Yes, we may save on SQL Cals and 1 server licence and a few gig of backup, but jeeez, we deserve that for the loyalty to date. I see Arbor in full swing and it is lightning fast and many happy teacher,s leaders and parents on it. Many MATS like mine are at a tipping point and I do not appreciate having so much taken away and giving so little.. I undersatnd all are working very hard but the loyalty needs to be rewarded now more than ever, not penalised.... Please get it in order PP....

Hello all, I need to be able to delete user profiles AND the local profile folders. We have shared PC's like in most schools and since using 256 ssd's, after a while disk space gets full. We have a policy for removing profiles older than x days with GP's but the issue is the space taken up by the C:\Users\username. What i would like to do is remove all folders beginning with a number as all our students start with the year of intake and staff and admins profiles do not. Any suggestions. This disk space issue must affect more than me surely but searches on the web are not very helpful so far with scripts all saying to users to remove , etc.! Cheers all, Sir

HI all... i was assured that we could use the local install of SIMS on a win10 vm that is connected to HOSTED SIMS SERVERS with Capita by way of a VPN (which capita set up) to scedule ParentPay syncing with mis sync- as we do at another school in the Trust (locally hosted SIMS). I just wanted to know if anyone has got this to work who are also using hosted SIMS?

Should the group be global distribution rather than security? Is this syncing with adfs?

This may sound really daft but am i loading exchange server cd into my virtual drive for: :\Setup.exe /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /PrepareSchema ?

Yes exactly. I had that page open as you typed that.... looks fun :-/ just to disable outside emails emailing distr groups set up on AD. Kids signing AllStudents/ teachers groups up to junk :-/

Please can you point me in the right direction?I really need the space back from the year 11's who left last June. Have it all backed up elsewhere for a few months. I keep getting permission issues logged in as domain admin on file server on every folder in the Leavers' folder. 160 students. During their time here, the file server was migrated and they have an Old Files(Migrated) folder with profiles, etc that seem to be causing the issues. You need admin permission- [continue], you need permission to perform [Try again/ Cancel]. Have taken ownership but does not propegate properly with inherit checkbox checked, etc. Am i to use Set ACL or somesuch and, if so, can you point me in thright direction for a quick guide to get this done? Hi there, After setting a lock screen image successfully to our School Logo, now my line manager wants spotlight back. His laptop is not in an OU that this is applied to but it will not revert. Having checked the REG, (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\RotatingLockScreenEnabled = 1) as you can see is enabled OKAY. Am i missing something here?

HI, i think this has been discussed before and apologies if so. If you can point me to the right place in that case, i will be happy. I have redirected APPDATA on win 10 environment with 2012r2 and i would like to send ths back local. The reason i want to test this is twofold. I have headteacher and a few others on VPN with pretty poor internet at their houses which struggle and im guessing that hanging office apps, etc. are mainly to do with this redirected APPDATA? Secondly, graphics kids roaming folders are getting massive along with may other students using adobe CC etc., and im guessing that moving this back to local would help. The teachers for graphics have loved the fact that after crashes, they can pick up where they left off on another PC but i think i need to start limiting space. My main query is how i can test and migrate this slowly as i can clone the policy STAFF SETTINGS to STAFF SETTINGS (NO APPDATA REDIRECTED) or somesuch, and i can apply security filtering on who i want to get this but this way does not give me the option to move the roaming folder back to local on first logon. I'm not even sure i want this to happen so open to suggestions but the other issue is removing a single user or group from the the original STAFF SETTINGS GPO as this is the one that is still redirecting APPDATA. I'm not sure which one would take precedence if i didn't remove the user or group from the original GPO if you catch my drift. I think you may get loosely my reasons and obstacles to testing and if you could comment on any of this, that would be helpful i'm sure. main issue being headteacher cannot open office docs over vpn.... and when open, hang intermittently for 5+ mins! !%00 pound SSD HP laptop- new. Sorry; you missed the point. This was not the question. I was referring to if we classify this as spacial category data so which article 9 would it be appropriate to use. Or, if we classify these as special category, the regulation doesn't, we don't have to specify a reason under Article 9?

That's what I was going for yet it requires multi factor to be set up in the portal and when I tried that, suggested by 365 support... On my own account.. It was a nightmare as my one time codes for each device I was using kept asking for the code... I had copied mine down to a secure file... But I can just imagine the support tickets I would get from all the staff trying to sort this for them all!

On another tack, a lot of the information that we collect on students is pretty sensitive data such as LAC status, PPI, CAMHS, etc., etc. This is not explicit special category data in the legislation, yet I think the DfA has advised that we treat it as such. (can't remember where i heard/ read this but it sounds reasonable). So, would this fall into (9 (2) g) substantial public interest or (9 (2) b)- ....social protection law... as this is relating to protecting those who are poor and/ or vulnerable... such as children, etc...?

So many school websites list their teachers names. So much homework is available online.
