Has anyone met this edge profile issue yet with one drive? Where they like duplicate the desktop icons to the point one teacher had 10,000 icons on her desktop And if you delete them, they come back If so, has anyone had the best way to deal with it? (we have to wait for microsoft to fix it)

Hi We are part RM / Intune Our servers need sophos AV on as part of trust requirement. Our RDS has it on and it works fine but under non admin users you get ""CLR error 80070005 This program will now terminate"" RM recommended an article which is completely irrelevant to the problem Anyone else might have an idea what's causing it?

Thanks, I'll do a backup one of our servers from vsphere (one that isn't so critical) and just see if it behaves more better/ Like overall it doesn't bother me as its easily fixable but its a pain when you forget how to fix it

We had a little issue (i messed up with the restores) got adviced to backup from the hosts instead of vcenter as vsphere was messing around (but i think it may of been related to my mess up). But yes we restore them directly to the host. Obviously i know how what i did wrong and i won't use that part of veaam again (was my first time and you live and learn), do you think it would be better if i did it from vsphere directly?

We do our vm backups that pull the vms from esxi not from vsphere. Whenever do a restore (been testing some over summer break), it restores it fine but if we shutdown the VM the VM name changes to ds:///vmfs/volumes/datastore/vm_name so then we have to remove from inventry then redo it then re-add the vm into the backup. Is this normal?

Hi, Been setting up our VMs to autostart on the hosts (and even the hosts them selves) but been thinking about the actual server itself. i read it should auto turn it self on after a powercut but if i was to gracefully shut it down in a powercut, whats the best procedure for turning everything back on or will it do it self?

We have about 2 weeks worth in 6 days Some of it isn't time critical but would be nice if we had it done over summer. But i do get most of summer off which is a nice change

you will more likely need ASM for any ipad that you want to manage. Jamf may also work, it will cost you like £5 as is easily done but i don't know about google workspace as we use jamf . On our network we use securly and we make a profile that forces it onto the ipad for web filtering

Yep the guy from our support thingy had to reset the 2fa and then talk them through it on the phone (poor guy )

Hi We just moved over to Veaam (the free one) today, did some test backups and its working fine (not tried vm restore though) We use to use azure backup but we had constant issues over the years and constant errors, license had expired so decided it was time to move on. Veaam has been great and alot easier to set up, our server is about 12tb in capacity. I am wondering what would the best retention been, obviously i have full VM backups (2TB in total inc Sims, 2 generic servers we use, RDP and iDstore) and i have set up some file backups. Do i leave it for a while (week or month) as i've currently got it set up and then see how much space we have then go from there?

We only have to do them earlier than normal due to the ipads, if we didn't have them then i would leave them till later on I did it anyway and it seemed fine

Hi, Just getting a general idea of what other schools do that are using locker. We need to generate our users before the 2nd August (we have to set ipads up over summer ) So i am wondering how early do other schools generate users Do you do it first day of the holidays or last day of term? etc It's our first year we've had a new intake on the new system (last year was the migration) ps may of posted it under the wrong catergory by mistake

Oh it gets better He came in today to show me, you sign in with outlook, it opens up the authenicator app, telling you to enter this code but you can't the enter the code because its telling you to enter this code so you're stuck in a loop, past it onto 2nd tier anyway

We have 4 power supplies but 2 blades and then the SAN part and that other server has 2 power supplies in it (i don't know what it is that it does or if its even used anymore until i fully have a look, i just know its a Dell EMC VNXe 3100 )

I wil have a proper look on Monday but i know for some reason our trust requires you to have the authenicator app installed but i will try on monday as the teacher is coming in. I did try and get him to redo everything from start but this is what he said "I think if it is possible it might work if I could use a QR code to set it up again. When I first set up the authenticator app it gave me a QR code on my laptop that I could scan, this would bypass the initial login on the app and therefore hopefully allow the app and account to be connected properly again. Is there any way you can send me another QR code through this email so i can access it? sorry if this doesn't make sense." It's such a pain but it is microsoft

Hi, We've been having issues with new members of staff (2 so far). i will quote what they said "I am having issues signing into my school microsoft account. When I try to sign in it asks me to use the microsoft authenticator app. When I go onto the app there are no codes. When I try and re-add my school account to the app it asks me to authenticate it through the app which I am unable to do whilst trying to sign in on the app. Finally when trying to log on to the account and I try say that I can't use the authenticator app it gives me two alternative options that require the use of the app. As a result of this I can not access the school microsoft account" Does anyone know what may be going on? I have one of the staff members coming in on Monday but just wondering if you IT wizards might know what's causing it to bug out like that?
