Hi, I've now got a W700 to try. Problem is it only comes with Windows 8 not Pro. When I try to change it to the KMS key, it says this key won't work. Same with a MAK Pro Key. I've tried the add features and cmd methods. Do I have to re-install the whole of windows to make it the pro edition?

Hi, I have a 3com 5500EI switch at the core of my network that is set as the gateway device. I have set up an additional VLAN and configured it on all the other switches. I can access devices across VLANs with the default settings. I want to use the new VLAN for guest access and keep the original VLAN for normal LAN Does anyone know how to stop the routing between VLANs while allowing 2 ips from the guest to the LAN (for authentication of wireless and internet) and forwarding on the the ISP router? I know you do it using telnet, but have no idea of the necessary commands, or the order to run them. Thanks,

I am considering just using the exchange part, and killing the rest if thats possible. It's a shame since skydrive would have been useful. Maybe they will reconsider in the future since, like their other recent u-turns.

Has anyone found a way to kill sites and newsfeeds but keep skydrive pro? Also the 'shared with everyone link' worries me, is there a way to disable this for students?

I found this link Disable Lync Online, SharePoint Online, or both - Manage Office 365 - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community but I'm not sure if this will disable skydrive. I suspect it will, annoyingly. I'm also starting to look at google apps because their admin seems far simpler with on/off options for all separate services on a per user basis. So far I'm disappointed with my 365 trial. I've tried finding out how to turn off sites and newsfeeds and all I can find is robotic microsoft forum replies about requesting the feature. Is it just me or is this an obviously missing option?

by temporary mailbox I meant existing Outlook users need to delete their profile during migration. I found this that might help Staged Migration - Outlook 2007 prompting to Use Temporary mailbox - Email and calendar - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community I have yet to experience this but found out about it when looking for migration instructions. I can't find a way to disable the top links. I can just imagine what havoc this will cause if it has to stay enabled. How can their use be monitored?

OK, so it looks like there are no answers to my initial issues. I've now set up a trial.Mail and Calendar and People look good, Sharepoint concerns me. I don't really want students making their own sites or using the newsfeed, all I want is skydrive. Is there a way to remove the newsfeeds and sites menus or change the permissions to prevent their use?

Hi, I would like to setup a 2008 r2 server as a VPN server so staff laptops can connect and access SIMS, network drives etc. I think I have all the components: Cert server, RADIUS Server, VPN Server Our wireless is already secured using RADIUS Auth, so I'm hoping I can use this and a certificate requirement to secure the VPN. I'm thinking of using the new SSL VPN type with an external IP. Does anyone know of a guide to set this config up? Do I need any license to do this other than the CALs we already have?

Hi, Just looking into implementing Office 356 to replace our exchange 2007 server. There a few things I've found out, I just wanted to check how others managed, so I have all the info before starting. We have over 1000 mailboxes, so I'm looking at a staged migration, using dirsync with passwords. Outlook temporary mailbox issue. - We have approx 100 staff that use outlook, this message will confuse them, I'm surprised there is no automated way to fix this and users will need to delete their profile. Logon site needs domain. - I have modified the 2007 iis logon page so it fills in the long "@hailshamcc.e-sussex.sch.uk" domain automatically. Users only need to type their username and password. My understanding is that the full username would need to be typed to mail.office365.com. Is there a way to store the domain in the url so users only need to type in their short username, like they do now? Convert users to mail enabled users - I can see why this has to be done after a batch has been migrated, but what happens when I add a new user that needs a mailbox. I was planning to decommission the onsite exchange server. Do I need to keep it to mail enable new user objects? Thanks,

Hi all, We are considering buying tablets for PE staff to replace their laptops, so needs to run SIMS.net, office and hold their files. Is anyone aware of a tablet that: runs full Windows 8 pro has a vga port for connection to projectors (or comes with correct adaptor lead) 4Gb RAM At least 32Gb of storage space Teacher proof - In the past they have dropped, spilt, and lost power supplies etc for their current laptops. So it should be easy to get replaceable parts, have a warranty or low cost to replace. Has anyone found such a product, that ticks most of these requirements? I know being teacher proof is a bit impossible, Had a look at surface pro, but is quite expensive and there appears to be no discount available on it. Also had a look at Dell, Acer and Asus

Sorry, No further, I called our SIMS support team and they knew nothing about it. I think its a windows update for root certificates that voids a certificate SIMS uses, but I'm not sure which one. I'm hoping the Spring Release will fix it.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yes I have it set to manual and deleted the rules, this is what I mean by NAT off. I would like it to be a firewall too. I've managed to get the pfbox to see the internet (add proxy to advanced, misc) and upgrade to the latest release, but still internet requests on clients just timeout. I am using our normal network gateway because I don't have a gateway address for the guest range because our internet passes through a county council router I don't control. I'm now thinking this is the problem, and I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

I've got PFSense setup and it works with NAT on. I need it to work as a router (with NAT off) because it passes though lightspeed router and I need it to see to source ip not the pfsense WAN address. I have tried turning off the block private networks option, cleared all firewall rules but still can't get it to work. I can ping though it but no http works Has anyone else got pfsense just to work as a simple router?

Hi, I'm getting this error on one windows 7 computer when running reports to excel. Normally users just click enable, but this isn't there because the certificate is revoked? I think I remember seeing a certificate update 'patch' in WSUS, so maybe this is the cause. Anyone else seen this?

I'm trying to setup WPAD on PFSense but can't get it to work. I don't know how to put a file onto the box remotely, so I'm using the editor in the web interface to create the files as per WPAD Autoconfigure for Squid - PFSenseDocs I can download the file via the browser so I know it's there and the dns is correct. If I put the setting in manually it works so I know the settings are right Any suggestions?

Looks like the best I'm going to get is an additional IP range. They say it is not possible to remove the proxy on a SEGfL connection, so I'm going to have to rely on WPAD or squid. Am I right in thinking that I need the gateway router (which I'm not in control of) config changing to add an extra gateway address within the new ip range for it to work? If not could I use pfsense as the gateway or will I need to install my own router?

Hi, I'm trying to setup a BYOD network which is separate from the main system but passes through our lightspeed rocket for filtering. I would like to keep all DHCP and DNS separate, so need to have a server within the guest vlan for this purpose. It will also need to make the upstream proxy transparent as the SEGfL are determined to force us to keep it. So I'm looking for a simple to install and use linux build that can do Squid for transparent proxy, DNS & DHCP on a basic PC; or a hardware device that does these things. Any suggestions?

No, permissions etc haven't been changed. Clicking the import button does nothing. Could it be something to do with libraries because these are hidden using a group policy? Dragging files onto the mm6 window allows them to be added.

Hi all, I've had to install movie maker 6 from here on our windows 7 machines because the teachers don't like the live 2011 or 2012 editions. It works fine as admin, but when running under standard user accounts they can't use the import function. I suspect it's because it is trying to save temp files somewhere. Does anyone know which directory needs write access? Thanks,

Yep, added all the lines 1-39 to the template.css file in the current template folder. I had to use 'view source' button then copy and paste because the 'copy to clipboard' button didn't work for me.

Hi, I've upgraded our website based on the 1.5 edugeek template to joomla 2.5 and I've managed to get most of it working. There are still a few niggles I hope can be fixed: 1. Style of Page navigation pages i.e I currently have: Start Prev 1 2 Next End Page 1 of 2 and would like to at least make it all on one line, but I'm not sure where the code of this is. 2. Boxes on menus are now missing the modules have _menu in their module class suffix settings but the style is not being applied. If I take _menu out a box appears but no sub item formatting. 3. Top menu has lost animations Menu still works but it no longer animates.
