    Google Waves Goodbye

    The much hyped Google Wave communication platform is to be scrapped by search giant Google. The company blog has announced the user adoption of Wave was insufficient and it will no longer be developed as a standalone product.   Wave is expected to remain operational until the end of the year at minimum.     BSF - Building Scrapped for Future (In Places)

    Large swathes of the controversial Building Schools for Future (BSF) project have been cut today by Michael Grove, Secretary of State.   The list, published here by the BBC, details a list of all BSF projects in the country and which ones have been stopped or will continue. As a general rule of thumb, a BSF project should go ahead if the Local Authority (LA) has obtained Financial Closure.     iPhone 4 "Fix" to be Released

    A fix for the reception issues suffered by the iPhone 4 is to be released by Apple; to correct the reported signal strength.   The company has made an announcement that the signal bar is incorrect and showing "2 more bars then it should for a given signal strength."     School Stabbing Leaves One Dead and Another Injured

    Police are investigating a possible gang-related stabbing at a school in South London, leaving a 15-year old pupil dead and another seriously injured.   The attack occurred at 8.45am on the 2nd July at Park Campus school in West Norwood. A gang of youths waiting in a car chased the schoolboys into nearby Gipsy Road, killing one and stabbing the other in the arm as he tried to get back to school grounds. Staff came to assist but the murdered pupil was declared dead after arriving at hospital.

    Skydrive and Office, Live

    Users of Microsoft's Live service now have the Redmond firm's answer to Google docs available to them. Visit http://office.live.com and you can access Skydrive, an online cloud-based service allowing you to store documents and access the web-based 2010 versions of Word, Powerpoint, Excel and OneNote.   The service is free to use and requires a Windows Live Passport login.     Apple Adds Malware Detection

    Security firm Sophos has reported that malware detection has been added to OSX 10.6.4 (AKA Snow Leopard). The update detects the HellRTS trojan which disguises itself as iPhoto, an image editing application bundled with OSX.   However, Sophos have reported that the malware detection only works on downloads from the Internet and does not cover all the various items of Mac-oriented malware currently in circulation.     EduGeek Refresh Desktop tool

    I have developed a tool which I thought could be of use to all of you out there. It is primarily designed to refresh the desktop wallpaper at set intervals which may not sound like a big deal but in certain scenarios it will be of use.
