Mobility Print is now a like-for-like Google Cloud Print alternative
It’s no secret Google Cloud Print is inching closer to deprecation. Many on EduGeek already recommend PaperCut's Mobility Print as a good Google Cloud Print alternative, Well, except it doesn’t enable printing remotely, and outside your network, right?
Not anymore! Mobility Print now has Cloud Print functionality.
Chromebook users can now send their print jobs over the internet with Mobility Print. We’ve just launched with Chromebook users, for now, Mac and Windows are coming soon.
This breakthrough means Mobility Print now works as a like-for-like replacement for Google Cloud Print, giving users a native print experience from any network.
But you probably have a bunch of questions...
Is it fast?
Print jobs stay local when possible, and only get routed via the internet if a user doesn’t have a direct local connection to the Mobility Print server. Print jobs are sent over a direct peer-to-peer connection using the quickest route possible. This ensures lightning-fast maximum send-speed.
Check.
Is it secure?
The peer-to-peer connection between a user’s computer and the Mobility Print server is encrypted. No one on the internet, including PaperCut, has access to any print jobs or metadata.
Check.
Do I need to open my firewall to the internet?
No, you don’t. We designed Cloud Print specifically for environments that are not exposed to the internet. All you need is an outbound internet connection from your Mobility Print server, and it will work.
Check.
All this means that you can now also confidently provide printing to your untrusted guest network.
But how much is it? Free ninety-nine. Sorry, failed attempt at being funny. It’s free. You can use Mobility Print, including Cloud Print, for free, or you can use it as part of PaperCut NG/MF.
In a nutshell. Mobility Print has always allowed you to print from any device, now it’ll allow you to print from anywhere.
