Although some of the posts I've seen from her espoused views that I don't subscribe to, I'm not sure that being a somewhat misguided Republican/Trump supporter should be a sackable offence. (Though maybe I've not seen the really offensive ones).

I think it's a case, of "this was the straw that broke the camel's back." I'd imagine she got a talking to after previous tweets and posts, and was reminded about Disney's wholesome family friendly image in the past, and that you have to bite your tongue in the work place sometimes, some companies, make you bite harder than others?

 

what is a shame, is in some interviews I've seen her come across as very nice, and a good strong female role model, talking about not getting roles 'cos of her size etc, and being told what she should/shouldn't wear to cover up

This time trying to make a political point she evoke false equivalence by way of reference to the Holocaust. There are very few indefensible arguments, but that is one of them.

 

Its a real shame, I know several women who really loved her character for the reasons admars mentioned about. They were blissfully unaware of her personal political views.

I agree, apart from her political views she seems like a nice person. I'm not sure I agree about using the Holocaust to make a point being beyond the pale, as it is frequently used elsewhere without such criticism. Chris Pratt seems to be quite right wing (but not as obviously) and he's still a Disney star. I do wonder if this sacking was at least partially driven by the campaign to get her ousted for her political affiliations.

 

Anyway, I think we might be veering into "P" territory so Gina, if you're reading this, I totally disagree with your political views but I hope you get offered some even better roles. You're still a favourite at Château LeMarchand and we think you look great.

I may have not grasp all the nuances of this but from what I have read I take issue as, though I don't agree with her politics, it should either be a no politics at all stance or a people are allowed their opinions as long as they are not offensive. Some actors have been allowed to post their views which are considered allowed. She has posted some views that are considered frowned upon. Who decides which are the allowed views or is it just populism?

 

The pronouns thing is an interesting one. Should you be yelled at because you won't do something or you won't overtly support something? Will companies start censuring staff if they don't support the latest cause?
