6Foot2 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 We have a number of Casio DLP projectors XJ-A135 giving us problems. The picture appears to have dead cells. Looking on this forum: Link: Optoma HD600x Dead Pixels? | AVForums.com - UK Online And looking at this picture: http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/projectors/253605d1311321875-optoma-hd600x-dead-pixels-photo2.jpg Shows the problem accurately. The forum talks about replacing the DMD [Digital Micromirror Device] Has anyone done this or had it done? Does anyone know what costs I can expect? Thanks.

RTFM Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 A couple of ours have done the same after 2 years use or so, as was mentioned, 5 year warranty so got them swapped
tmcd35 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Not had that problem, but a couple of ours have overheated and frozen. They have been swapped out. There is a thicker version of the projector that seems to be more reliable. That said, I've gone back to standard bulbs as the failure rate over time is too high at that price to be worth the hassle to me.

The throw distances on the Casio are so good it can't imagine having to measure out a projector anymore :\ As for failure rate, we have around 50 casio's now, some 2 years old, others brand new (or close to) and I think in that time we have sent back 3 units (all for a swap out). I dont think thats too bad considering
