LosOjos Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 OK not something I'd usually even consider but my hands are driving me insane now, cracked, sore and bleeding! Usually, I use Norwegian Formula but I seem to have suddenly become allergic to the stuff - my hands have swollen up, come out in a rash and are itching intensely; wonderful! So, any advice for a decent hand cream that isn't greasy so I can keep working after I've put it on?

laserblazer Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I get cracked finger/thumb tips and have had to have antibiotics a couple of times. The doctor recommended Vaseline.

mdench Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 have you been to see your Doctor? Try and see if they can prescribe you something like cetraben comes in a pump tub. I have eczema and this works great for through out the day and then for the really bad days a steriod based cream I think the one i have atm is Elocon put that on over night and it will make a great difference 1

bushby Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 defiantly best to go and see a DR about it as they may need to send you to see a dermatolagis (sink specialist) i am in the process of it atm as i suffer with ecsma and seriasis and lately starting to break out in the same symptoms all over my body. not good when i forgot the medicated stuff, this week as im on a course. 1
soveryapt Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Bodyshop stuff is brilliant. Pop into your local shop and they'll be able to advise you better, but they do a hemp hand cream which is just amazing, but they have many other things they could probably advise you about too. 2
witch Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I really would go and see a doctor. E45 cream - which can be a bit greasy and so might be better at night- works wonders on cracked and sore skin and has no additives or anything 1

teejay Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Again, another vote for E45 here. I used to work as a pharmacy assistant in my younger years and it was always what we recommended. Try a tube of it first off the shelf, but if you find it works then you can get big tubs of it from the pharmacy counter which works out much cheaper. 1

Might use that at night and give that hemp cream a go for the day (assuming it's less greasy than E45?) Hand cream - not something I ever envisaged myself having a conversation about!
pcstru Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I was going to recommend the bodyshop hemp cream but it is kind of greasy although it works in quite well. If my hands are bad I put a good dollop on and leave it for a few mins, then rinse my hands, which seems to still do some good. 1
AMLinington Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) I suffer from adult cystic acne whilst simultaneously suffering horribly dry skin so I can't use anything oily or greasy and I can't take the 'normal' acne treatments as they make my skin crack and bleed. So far I've found Dermalogica products AMAZING but I can't afford the expensive moisturisers so I use the Neutrogena oil free face moisturiser. But you could look at some of the Dermalogica range: multivitamin hand and nail treatment - Dermalogica UK active moist - Dermalogica UK barrier repair - Dermalogica UK I love Dermalogica products but they can be pricy...
