Good morning all, does anyone know of a way that i can get android working through our proxy. it works for the browser but as it states on the screen it wont work on 3rd party apps.

i am not brilliant with android as i am using th'iphone, but would consider moving if i could get this working. at present we have a member of staff who is struggling and whilst its not technically work he just wants to read is petrol head app whilst having a cuppa.

Thanks

Android doesn't have built in proxy support, however you may be able to get around this using an App and a proxy.pac file containing exceptions.

Um, it does :) Since... 3.2 I think.

4 and up is better as you can set proxies per connection, which is nice.

Edit: gah beaten to it - and *snap* with the answers :p

It does work for most apps on 4+ - but there are always apps that do not run http traffic through ports 80 and 443 - these will be blocked by your firewall. We just selected the apps we want kids to use and enable to specific server ip address in the FW and block the rest.
