mrbios Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 going to greece from the 18th to the 26th ............ then all hell breaks loose we're practicly redoing the entire network one room is being chucked away (all the pcs being given to a charity), we have to move all the pcs from the one next door to that across the other side of the school we have to build around 200 pcs for the new building and image them put 8 servers in place as DCs with a different subnet for each section of the school, replace all our old decrepid switchs with nice fancy HP procurves (where we havent already) all sorts of recabling to be done in the server room, everything on the eonstor needs to be moved off to a temporary location so we can format the disks and clean it up a bit, put everything back on defrag it (reason bein we think theres a problem with one or two of the drives but all this can be done whilst we're doing other jobs) although we might leave it all on there and just run a few programs to check the disks because we could cause all sorts of problems come to think of it all the old pcs out of 2 rooms that are being replaced have to be spread out throughout the school (they want a minimum of 1pc per classroom by september........somehow they think we're going to spring an extra pair of arms or something) then in the unlikely event we have some time left at the end i want to try and replace one or two of the old dell servers with a spare HP one we have currently doing not much at all EDIT: oh and we also need to a proper form of disaster recovery sorted EDIT again: and get helpdesk working again which i acidently onpurpose nuked a few months ago EDIT again again: and theres limiting home drive space for students, getting all the students an email address with limited space and finally (at least i hope) get print manager sorted again for printer credits EDIT yet again: also a few projectors/whiteboards that need putting up and setting up obviously with the amount we've got to do we've already started, got a test subnet setup to make sure the extra DCs do what there supposed to, got connects to come and put some copper and fibre in where needed, biggest problem we've got is we cant get into the new building until the middle of august, which means everything else has to be done and ready to be put in once the building opens otherwise we're goign to run out of time

stephenleak Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 We will be spending a week refurbishing another IT suite of 31 PC's. I still need to find something financially lucrative to cover the drop in earnings. Unfortunately, the above week will be the exam results one, so splits my "moonlighting" time in half.
localzuk Posted July 12, 2007 Author Posted July 12, 2007 I hope there is more than one of you acrobson!!
Halfmad Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I'm off a lot these holidays, 4 weeks in total (1 family week for moving house and 3 for annual leave.) Only leaves me 3 weeks really. What do you mean only leaves you 3?? We only have 5 weeks altogether! We get 7 weeks a year, last year we had 8 weeks 8). Last years extra week was down to a teacher challenging the council over the "lost days" incurred due to leap years - still can't believe they got an extra week off because of that. Not like they work that many days as it is! :? This year it's June 29th -> 20th August
Geoff Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Actually, I think I'll buy some more controllers for my Wii so we can play 4 player Mario Strikers as well.
Halfmad Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Got that game at the weekend Geoff but I haven't actually tried it (moving house at the moment). I'm a bit peeved at having to get a 2nd nunchuk for two players though My first "bought" game too so hoping it'll be a laugh
