Does the include the freebie at the RM Seminars?! :-) I think that you can keep the items, so long as your employer knows you've got it (that may not apply to Government employees though).

I think that you can keep the items, so long as your employer knows you've got it It includes anything of value. This only applies to those whose salary comes from the tax payers. The idea is that is makes sure you are making your decision based soley on the suitablity and cost of the product and now any other factor such as what you will get for it. Someone is going to say that it is not / rarely enfocred, and that would be true. But as the products get more and more valuable - Sat Nav is becoming popular, as are MP3 players - then I think it may be more and more common for enforcement to take place. So all I am saying is be aware of it - I do know of one person who was sacked by a Local Authority for "accepting a bribe" as they called it. I think it was a bit of an Al Capone incident in that this was a generally bad egg and this was something they could make stick but all the same.

Basicly two ways of handling gifts school gets it and then goes on school inventory and then other is to raffle it off to all the staff. Name out of hat sort of thing. Area becomes les clear cut when you have relationship with supplier under two different banners for example as school and a 'non profit peer support site' Also don't think it is illegal as as such bit against most lea rules. They knew the phone they would get. Wether it's used for personal or work matters well, non of SMTs numbers are on the other phones so it's hard to say.

This would normally be ok. This is an added benefit that the supplier is giving it's customer(the school). The internal distribution of the phones is the Bursar's decision. Now if it was to be owned by him, then it would not be right as it would be for personal gain.

john Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I bought an Epson Projector and it came with a free lamp, 3 year on site de-install / re-install warranty and when you use it in low lamp mode (1500 ansi-lumens) you get a 3 year bulb warranty as part of the deal, so its a winner all round, especially as it was £300+vat
