Having major problems with SIMS.net this last week. Registration groups not showing up; slowing down of the whole experience; SQL DB time-outs and things. I am *hoping* my Systems Manager didn't apply the JUNE update, but that's what the sheet said. We had previously been told to wait for the JULY update.

Has anyone had the July update yet- and if so- how is it going? What issues are you seeing (if any)?

Thanks.

We skipped the June update due to a bug it introduced with links to registration from the home page. Have been running with the July update fine for the past week.

The June update has really slowed down Lesson Monitor and now it can take up to 10 seconds for the mark to register and to move to the next student.

I was forced to take it due to a fix for another problem being included. Ironicly it didn't fix it.

Gaaaahh!! SIMS

I noticed on SupportNet that Capita have re-released June update to address LM performance issues. Have you tried that, or the July update?

How inconsiderate of him, why didn't he ask it to burst in a couple of weeks time when its the summer holidays. Terrbile :D

We did the June update last week ... a brief glitch due to an issue that appeared after the May update (which we only did the weekend before that) but that was solved.

I am doing a System Manager backup, a restart and a defrag of the system volume every 3rd night ... but that is because it is on an old box, heavily abused and it hates this time of year anyway.

Yes. Our SIMS server has *never* been defragged! It has less that 10% disk space left, is slow as a snail, and I suspect some of the DB connection issues are exactly due to a failing server. Not that it matters for long- we have just ordered a brand new admin server. I can tell that's gonna be fun!

On the LM side of things, I'm wondering whether our Systems Manager *has* applied the June update (that broke LM) in anticipation of applying the July update. Meh. Glad it isn't in my job description ;-)

I am waiting for the big August update which means SQL 2005, at the moment am only at Sims version 7.93 and seems a little sluggish but i fear this is why the switch to SQL 2005 as it handles the data slightly differently and also quicker.

Our LEA sent me the email yesterday saying that the june/july update was ready and i did it last night and so far so good *fingers crossed*.

I like the new bulletin system at the top very nice feature, ive just used it to say that i'm taking sims down at 4pm tommorow for the p5-p7 conversion.

The SQL upgrade is required for the August 07 update.

August and September will be the big changes to the DB backend. August will run on both the old MSDE/2000 SQl and SQL Express/2005 SQL September will only run on the latter.
